Three climbers have died while returning from the summit of Mt Everest, Nepali officials say.
The three are believed to be a South Korean, a German and a Nepali-born Canadian woman.
Conditions were favourable on Friday and Saturday morning but a wind storm swept the mountain later on Saturday, Mountaineering Department official Gyanendra Shresth told AP.
Two more climbers are currently missing, he added.
The Canadian woman was named by officials as Shriya Shah.
The South Korean climber died at The Balcony, an area near the top of the 8,848m (29,029ft) peak, Ang Tshering Sherpa of the Kathmandu-based Asian Trekking adventure agency told Agence France Presse.
That would be annoying, getting all the way to the top then dieing on the way back.

Yes I'm so annoyed every time that happens to me.
At least they didn't fall off the top.

Someone should cut Everest in half so there's a vertical 8,8 km tall cliff on one side. Then if everyone on Earth pooped off the side every day for a week it would slowly build up and we'd have half a poop mountain.

In other news: Birds have wings!

They do? No way?! Quick go make a sensationalist headline about it!
They do? No way?! Quick go make a sensationalist headline about it!
You idiot.
The three are believed to be a South Korean, a German and a Nepali-born Canadian woman.
This sounds like the start to some bad joke.

So a South Korean, a German and a Canadian walk into an Everest and the bartender says
"oh boy, someone's going to make a really insensitive joke now"
I guess you could say they're in a forever rest

Called it.
And so adds more displays to Everest's infamous rainbow valley.
An area along the northeast route to the summit has earned the unassuming nickname of "Rainbow Valley", simply because of the multicolored down jackets of the numerous corpses littering the hillside. Even in the harsh conditions of lethal altitudes, corpses can remain for decades, some appearing frozen in time with climbing gear intact.
Graphic/Disturbing article about the valley: http://godheadv.blogspot.com/2010/04/abandoned-on-everest.html
For every ten climbers who have ever reached the summit, the mountain has claimed one of them. In the 56 years since the first men in history reached the top, 216 people have died, and the grim reality of the horrific conditions of the Final Push is that 150 bodies have never been, and likely can never be, recovered. They are all still there, and located, almost without exception, in the Death Zone.
Better than dying before you got there, I'd reckon.

Haha wow you must have really thought hard for that one.

No
No
Before 1990 there was a fatality rate of 37%, but in 2004 - thanks to advanced climbing equipment and experienced guides - it's now only 4,4%.
So before there was a 1/3rd chance of dying, but since it's now much lower now the mountain has experienced a large spike in tourism.
