• USB ports drivers STILL fucked up. Need some serious help.

Ok. It's been a while since I built this computer and this thing is still bugging me. Me and my family have to use a lot of usb plug-n-play memories, for work issues. The problem is... You plug them in, they DON'T play. Tried with about 20 dongs, 11 don't work. The others are fine but shit, the other 11 work PERFECTLY on the other computers, but NOT THIS? The only thing the pc says is the "du-du-dun" Window XP's "hardware not fucking recognized" sound. I already made a thread like this some months ago, but 1) Deleting and reinstalling the USB ports' drivers DID NOT WORK 2) It derailed in a nanosecond, ending up where nobody actually answered my calls for help and became a XP-versus-Vista thread. Fuck. So, how the fuck can I manage to get this sh** working? Constructive feedback will be rewarded. With cookies. Also, here's the link to the original thread. See how it completely derailed into oblivion: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=787847
Your USB ports may be damaged, or there might be a problem with your installation of Windows XP. To fix the first one, either buy a new motherboard, or buy a PCI USB card (staples/walmart/computer stores have them). The second one, reinstall windows xp. In order for me to help you in more detail I need more information, like windows event viewer logs, motherboard info, etc. If you know your motherboard model off hand, post it, if not download and install this tool (http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/System-Information-Viewer.shtml) and post all the info it provides.
Hmm... I don't think the ports are damaged, since they actually work, after all... (even if not with all the dongs) P.s. The motherboard is a nearly-brand-new ASUS P5Q SE.
Did you check the BIOS to see if theres any setting related to USB's that you should enable/disable/experiment with. You may have a hardware conflict, i.e one of your other devices is screwing with your USB ports, try removing all unessential hardware from your system, then try to test the USB ports. If they work, one by one, add each piece of hardware removed, until you get the problems again. When you get the problems back, than you know the last device you put back in is the one causing the problems.
It's not a hardware conflict. There's nothing attached, and some of the keys still don't work. I repeat: SOME. The only things not working are SOME usb flash memories. Everything else works fine. Even similar flashdongs. It seems just a compatiblity problem, but FUCK, two of the "test subjects" were two keys ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL. One works. The other does not.
I'm not sure if there are USB port drivers or not (or maybe it's mobo drivers) I don't remember having to do any USB driver stuff, just my main drivers really.
Well, dammit, so what the fuck is wrong with these little fuckers?
Make sure legacy USB support is enabled in BIOS. Try removing all USB hubs and controllers from device manager and reboot (This will reinstall them)
