Worth it but if you want to save up even more money just take Fallout 2.
Is Fallout Tactics really that good? I've been hearing mixed reviews. Loved FO1 and FO2 though.
Is Fallout Tactics really that good? I've been hearing mixed reviews. Loved FO1 and FO2 though.
Tactics is a good game that used the Fallout universe as a template, but isn't canon and just a missions pack of sorts. Fallout 2 is the best one.
Why "just get fallout 2?" Fallout 1 was fucking excellent too.
all three games are great buy them
A legendary game for a good deal. I've played Fallout 2 and I loved it (haven't completed it but I will soon.)
Why "just get fallout 2?" Fallout 1 was fucking excellent too.
It's inferior to fallout 1 in many ways though. Less streamlined, more confusing, way harder to get into, etc.

[editline]23rd August 2013[/editline] Actually FO1 is probably harder to get into because of the time limit.
Not only do you get 3 great games with this for $5, you will also get legal access to play the Fallout MMO that requires you to purchase one of these games to play.

They are both excellent games though, and while the time limit is annoying if you want to do side quests there's a patch to basically eliminate it.
I'm interested, but would anything be required for running these games on Windows 7?
No idea about the steam release, but the GoG fallout releases run flawlessly on win 7 so I'd (hopefully) imagine that the steam release would be similar.

If anyone is getting fucked up rainbow colours on FO1 and 2 download and install the high resolution patch. It should fix it.
Apparently not, FO2 is giving me a color-glitched intro and a completely frozen up menu.
Your best friend for fixing that would be sFall.
fallout 2 makes me jizz everywhere
I think Fallout 1 is a lot more focused and eager to get you into the action than Fallout 2. In Fallout 2 you had that out of place tribal settlement thing going on, the temple of trials and I hate how you start with a melee weapon in a game where guns are the absolutely dominant weapons. I like both games for different reasons, Fallout 1 for its hardcore-ness, Fallout 2 for its greater scale.
I just didn't like the limited time in Fallout 1.
Your best friend for fixing that would be sFall.
That's giving me an error, says I'm using an incompatible version of fallout.
That's giving me an error, says I'm using an incompatible version of fallout.
Well, if you don't mind using a mod, Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 also includes sFall in the package of files it installs.

I'm gonna be totally honest, the older ones never really appealed to me, they look very monotonous and dull to play, but I'm perhaps being unfair since my only experience with any of the three games is like 15 minutes in Fallout 1 -- however I fucking adore 3 and New Vegas

I thought the same thing coming from Fallout 3 until I actually played through the game, and now I prefer the old ones over the newer games quite a bit. The funny part is I detest almost all turn-based combat games except for maybe 4, and fallout 1 and 2 are two of them.
Alternatively on Windows 7 you can fix the glitched colors in Fallout 2 by just having the Windows "Screen Resolution" window open on the desktop, crazy but it works.
Is Fallout Tactics really that good? I've been hearing mixed reviews. Loved FO1 and FO2 though.
It's great, but plays massively different to FO1 and FO2 and is less character and story focused. The story is still good though. Basically I'd rank the games. Fo1>Fo2>FNV>tactics>fo3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>[s]BOS[/s] As far as atmosphere goes. Fo1 - desolate but funny FO2 - funny then desolate Tactics - really creepy from a lot of different perspectives on how the brotherhood is essentially evil bos - we do not speak of bos
We do not speak of thy game that must not be named.
I loved Fallout 1 and hated Fallout 2, couldn't deal with the second one it was way too much like hard work.
I still have these but I could never get into them. I don't know if it is the graphics or just the combat (I strongly dislike turn-based. It just feels like you're taking turns to kick each other in the nuts) but maybe I'll have to re-install them and try them again, especially after getting back into New Vegas.
