• A Veteran Spy Has Given the FBI Information Alleging a Russian Operation to Cultivate Donald Trump
On Monday, NBC News reported that the FBI has mounted a preliminary inquiry into the foreign business ties of Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chief. But Reid's recent note hinted at more than the Page or Manafort affairs. And a former senior intelligence officer for a Western country who specialized in Russian counterintelligence tells Mother Jones that in recent months he provided the bureau with memos, based on his recent interactions with Russian sources, contending the Russian government has for years tried to co-opt and assist Trump—and that the FBI requested more information from him. "This is something of huge significance, way above party politics," the former intelligence officer says. "I think [Trump's] own party should be aware of this stuff as well." Does this mean the FBI is investigating whether Russian intelligence has attempted to develop a secret relationship with Trump or cultivate him as an asset? Was the former intelligence officer and his material deemed credible or not? An FBI spokeswoman says, "Normally, we don't talk about whether we are investigating anything." But a senior US government official not involved in this case but familiar with the former spy tells Mother Jones that he has been a credible source with a proven record of providing reliable, sensitive, and important information to the US government. In June, the former Western intelligence officer—who spent almost two decades on Russian intelligence matters and who now works with a US firm that gathers information on Russia for corporate clients—was assigned the task of researching Trump's dealings in Russia and elsewhere, according to the former spy and his associates in this American firm. This was for an opposition research project originally financed by a Republican client critical of the celebrity mogul. (Before the former spy was retained, the project's financing switched to a client allied with Democrats.) "It started off as a fairly general inquiry," says the former spook, who asks not to be identified. But when he dug into Trump, he notes, he came across troubling information indicating connections between Trump and the Russian government. According to his sources, he says, "there was an established exchange of information between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin of mutual benefit."
Source
I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE
There is so much of me that wants to see both candidates disqualified, Hillary and Trump both being swept from the board and into the crowd. At this point, Johnson or Stein would probably be better choices, even if they'd probably be lesser evils at best.
oh come on, so this "veteran spy" is retarded enough to tell some rando fucking newspaper about the "spooper sekrit russians are fucking with the election" Its another goddam red scare, christ
breaking news: a man claims to a news website that he said things to the FBI more breaking news:
If they have the information we would love to see it Both sides have massive mounds of allegations so lets throw this one onto the pile until something gets released
You're forgetting that this is also the site that posted the 47% Tape. Try harder /pol/.
mother jones is the breibart of the left
Election, please end today When can it stop? What won't they just bend? Well you know, November has come When it's never ever going to fucking end
"Russian regime has been cultivating, supporting and assisting TRUMP for at least 5 years. Aim, endorsed by PUTIN, has been to encourage splits and divisions in western alliance." It maintained that Trump "and his inner circle have accepted a regular flow of intelligence from the Kremlin, including on his Democratic and other political rivals."
The article is claiming that Trump has been corroborating with the Kremlin for the past 5 years and a claim like that is going to need some extraordinary evidence to back it up. "Our anonymous source's anonymous source tells us that" doesn't cut it
This is too Alex Jones-esque. I don't buy it.
This is too Alex Jones-esque. I don't buy it.
Well, it's all down to the name. Mother Jones.
I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE
the ride will never end. not until we cease clinging to the outdated left vs right dichotomy.
i highly doubt trump would side along with russians to sabotage his own country and businesses after that SK shadow government thing, I'm open for weird shit but this actually sounds very unlikely
Mother Jones is not a very credible source, these claims are currently impossible to verify, and no investigative agency has confirmed that any of these charges are even being investigated. An FBI spokesperson saying, "normally, we don't talk about whether we are investigating anything," is not confirmation that they are investigating anything. Can you provide any other sources to these claims? Mother Jones does not have the journalistic credibility to be a primary source, especially given the extraordinary nature of the charges. P.S. As a point of interest, I can't help but appreciate a certain irony to the FBI spokesperson's statement, given the extremely public letter from FBI director Comey loudly warning everybody that the FBI was continuing its investigation of Clinton's emails.
Mother Jones is not a very credible source, these claims are currently impossible to verify, and no investigative agency has confirmed that any of these charges are even being looked at. As much as I despise Trump, and as much as this particular narrative would fail to surprise me if it were true, this article doesn't seem very credible. An FBI spokesperson saying, "normally, we don't talk about whether we are investigating anything," is not confirmation that they are, in fact, investigating anything. Can you provide any other, more credible, sources to these claims? P.S. As a point of interest, I can't help but appreciate a certain irony to the FBI spokesperson's statement, given the extremely public letter from FBI director Comey loudly warning everybody that the FBI was continuing its investigation of Clinton's emails.
Nothing would make me happier until the FBI gives severe scrutiny to both candidates and supporting organizations. The more rotten apples that get shoke from the tree, the better. This would restore confidence in the governmental institutions and take the fire out of Trump's campaign of the "System is rigged" spiel and prevent other extremist right wingers gaining credibility by pointing out how corrupt the system is
There is so much of me that wants to see both candidates disqualified, Hillary and Trump both being swept from the board and into the crowd. At this point, Johnson or Stein would probably be better choices, even if they'd probably be lesser evils at best.
Presidential candidates cannot be disqualified for mere criminal convictions. They could be convicted of murder and it wouldn't disqualify them. The ONLY ways you could get Clinton or Trump disqualified is if you can prove: * That they are not a natural-born citizen * That they are under the age of 25 * That they have already served as President twice * Have resided outside the US during the past 14 years * That, while elected to a lesser office, they have been impeached, removed from that office and specifically disqualified from higher office * That, after swearing an oath to uphold the Constitution, they participated in and were convicted of rebellion or treason, and did not have their eligibility restored by Congress The first three are hard to argue. Has anyone tried to start a Birther-movement against Trump? Didn't think so. The fourth (residency) is also pretty hard to argue. They merely have to have owned property in the US; they could leave the country on business for pretty much any length of time. The fifth (prior impeachment) could have happened but did not. Trump has (thankfully) never held public office, so he could never have been impeached. Clinton could have been impeached while a Senator, but she wasn't, and now she isn't so she can't. The last (treason) is the only one that could happen. And that could only disqualify Clinton, because, again, Trump never held office or served in the military, so he never swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. And nothing she's been accused of (okay, accused of by someone who isn't pathological) would qualify as treason, which is strictly defined as either waging war on the US, or aiding an enemy of the US. The amendment that added this qualification was aimed at Confederate rebels, not petty criminals. Unless some Clinton emails show up proving she sold state secrets to North Korea, she's clear on that. And the point is mooted anyways by time - you couldn't get past the preliminary hearings in just a week, let alone try & convict her.
stein literally has a warrant out for her arrest
Was surprised to hear that, turns out to be basically nothing. Misdemeanor charges (criminal mischief and trespass) for spray-painting a bulldozer at the Dakota Pipeline protests. The trespass charge is likely to be dropped and the mischief charge is most likely just a Class B with a maximum of 30 days in jail and $1500. You can get speeding tickets worse than that in some states.

twist ending: trump was controlled by a south korean cult this whole time
twist ending: trump was controlled by a south korean feminist clown death cult worshipping gorillas this whole time
this is pretty much where this year is going
vandalism isn't "basically nothing" as far as I'm concerned
I don't think he was admonishing stein, just putting things in perspective
mother jones is the breibart of the left
This is a good way to put it. This is another "anonymous man says thing" article that cannot be verified.

Looks like /pol/ is wrong, it's not the Jews masterminding everything, its Russians.
Mother Jones would be the Breitbart of the left if they openly courted white supremacists.
Imagine being a veteran spy. Imagine being so bad at your job at gathering information that you think Mother Jones is a respectable outlet to leak stuff to. Yeah not buying it.
twist ending: trump was controlled by a south korean cult this whole time
this would be the best metal gear game ever
