A good thing about the old BP system from a player experience point of view is that it gave players little peaks of curiosity and excitement. It was like opening a present - the mystery of what was in there was a cool little gameplay element. You never knew when you'd luck out and get a bolt or C4 BP. One of the reasons that Ark never really appealed to me is that the leveling system always explicitly drove home how far away you were from the blueprint you wanted, so you knew that it was going to be a slog. There was no gamblers hope in there, and so it was a straightforward grind rather than something with a hint of exploration excitement.
I'm wondering if there's a way to combine the BP pages system with the XP system to make something interesting

I prefer everyone having the same chance of getting blueprints. A system where the chance of getting a guitar blueprint vs a metal hatchet or weapon blueprint was the same was really grindy, boring and most of all luck based. You could spend literally minutes or weeks trying to find the bp you wanted. That mechanic sucked and i'm really glad it's gone forever.
Now however, you are rewarded for playing the game instead of grinding monuments trying to avoid people with nothing better to do than kill nakeds.
