It's your fault if you fall for some fake website and put your password in there. Besides, you can always contact steamsupport and retrieve the account.
Learn to prove your the owner of the account and then get your password reset
Should've verified your email.
I contacted Steam support 30 mins after it happened.
And I've waited now 10 hours more than what the estimated time was.
But it should be okay since I've posted the code for Orange Box to them with a picture of it. :D
But the most strange thing was that this A-Hole was able to log into it while I was still online.
I've lost:
Nothing
Because I don't give my password away when someone asks for it.

As if every account hijacking was caused by stupid shit like that.
You're being an asshole, you know.
Never been hijacked, I have common sense.

That's true, people here should stop automatically assuming the victim got their password phished on a fake website when their account gets hijacked.
There are other ways of stealing someones password and with it taking over the account.

It usually takes them a day or two to respond

I had to wait 2 weeks before i got my account back.
I use only 1 password, I've used it for about 10 years now and it still hasn't been compromised.
How you people manage to get your accounts stolen; I don't know.

Basically the only reasons why accounts get hijacked are keyloggers and someone asks you for your password.
Keylogger means you're an idiot who doesn't have NOD32 and if you give your password to someone who asks for it, you're just a regular idiot.

OP:
I've never gotten my account scammed or hijacked. I know people who have, and they hate it.
there are ways of hacking into the victims PC and doing shit that way. But i'm guessing it takes a very long time and wouldn't be worth it.
Also, fhforums.org (Fortex Hotel). Looks like a regular GMod community. I signed up to the forums because I know couple of people on it. The forum isn't secure at all, the site owner (djratboy) can see everyones passwords. Some small misunderstanding between me and the owner lead him to "hacking" into my gmail account. Luckily it was just a crappy email/password I use for shitty stuff. The funny thing is that the forums are hosted on the owners PC which makes him prone to attack. It also means the forums aren't always up.
Just a word of warning. Don't sign up with your main details on custom made forums and shitty websites no matter how much you trust them.
PS. djratboy, if you read this and threaten to hack me again, my IP has changed.
Phishing isn't the only way somone can figure out your password.
It could of have been a key-logger.
It's not all that anonymous if you're announcing it in a public forum.

This guy has made another thread about how someone hijacked his Steam ID.
I guess some will never learn.
What? where? it's the only thread I see he ever made
It was an old thread. Prolly deleted from the archives, but this guy has whined about this subject once before.
My password is : fuckyourmuthar. Now guess my username
You even have to be an idiot to get a Key logger. Unless you click on every link that looks Fun.
As long as you don't take any chances when it comes to your Steam details, you should be fine. You did not, obviously, and as such you have lost your games. You'll probably get it back, but you really need to watch out these days.
