• Good Pair of earbuds for under $30?
    66 replies, posted
It's been a while since I last bought earbuds, since I've been using my computer speakers :l So does anyone know of any cheap, but decent earbuds that are on the market right now? My last pair were some Skullcandy Ink'd ones which turned broke after a few months :[ I'm not an expert on all this sound and music equipment, so what would you recommend? Thanks! Edit: Preferably silicon buds
iPod stock earbuds
For some reason I though OP was trying to buy earbuds off a mac user for TF2
skullcandies ;)
I used JVC earbuds for quite a while, I guess I can recommend them, no problem with them at all.
Don't go DealExtreme, they break within a weak of using them while walking and stuff. I'd go Sennheiser, good quality and decently made

I got a pair of SkullCandy Chops and I like them. They were $20 and they're not great but definitely worth the money. I think they are comfortable though they have the part that goes behind your ear and that seems to confuse a lot of people for some reason.
$6.99 Phillips at Target near the check-out aisles. My current pair has been going strong for around a year. Compared to the either brands, these fit my ear perfectly.
Wrong section, heres what you want. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/868300-ATTN-Refer-to-here-if-buying-headphones
All earbuds are exactly the same, if you buy any for more than 5 dollars you have been ripped off massively. Thanks for the thread link, didn't see it before :D
Thanks for the thread link, didn't see it before :D
The cheapest good headphones I've ever bought are Klipsch Image S4s and they have excellent audio but are very fragile. Of course by cheapest I mean 80 dollars.

[editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
Hmmmm it's still the wrong section and the thread linked to covers it just fine. :downs:
just buy generic ear buds, you need any stupid razor "specially made" ear buds.
Sennheiser CX-400 II, can get'em on ebay for less than 20 USD.
Are Sennheisers really reliable? :O How long do they usually last before they start sounding chunky?
All earbuds are exactly the same
Internally, yeah. But I find the cheap ones really uncomfortable.
Koss, or if you want cheaper ones skull candy.
http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?archive=true&pathId=162&modelId=MODL027848 JVC Marshmallow are the best in ear buds you will find for the price at a store. If you can order some, get Sennheiser's, but if you're going to run to walmart or bestbuy, get the JVCs. They sound decent and have insanely good isolation for $20 bucks.
These are fucking magical. http://us.store.creative.com/EP630-Black/M/B002EL4MXY.htm The bass is great, the treble is good, the middle is a bit muddy but that's what you get for paying under $30. I had my pair for 2 or so years and I'm thinking about getting another. I'd reccomend investing in a good pair of headphones for gaming though as earbuds get kinda uncomfortable after an hour or so.
Are Sennheisers really reliable? :O How long do they usually last before they start sounding chunky?
I hear the really cheap ones are crap, but that being said from a audiophile, I think that means they're ok

[editline]18th December 2010[/editline] just buy generic ear buds, you need any stupid razor "specially made" ear buds.
What? No one said to buy 'Razor' headphones. The OP wants a good pair of buds, and we want to direct him in the right direction. He wants to get the best bang for his buck. He could get a shit pair with cheap ass drivers and casing that breaks within days, or a quality pair with beautiful quality for the cost, with an attractive/durable casing. You can't compare a pair of high end Sennheisers to a pair of the shit that apple gives away. There are clear and profound differences in quality. Like the user above said, 'You're clearly retarded.' Don't post unless you know what you're saying. Better yet, don't post at all - given your inability to distinguish between when you do know what you're talking about and when you don't it's safe to say that you'll never make a quality or educated post. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
I hear the really cheap ones are crap, but that being said from a audiophile, I think that means they're ok
It could very well be that they're just rebranded with Sennheisers name with cheap parts. I'd like to think that a company with their reputation wouldn't do that, but most companies do.
I fucking love these. They have the rope like wire as on the zunes, and have rather nice ear inserts and audio
Sehnhiser CX-300's are very good and are around that price.
skullcandies ;)
SkullCandies have the shittiest production quality of all. I went through 5 pairs of SkullCandy earbuds before finally getting my refund and getting a $25 pair of Sony Earbuds. Have had no problems so far. Try and look for good deals on reputable audio brands like Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, etc. Don't fall for the Dr. Dre/SkullCandy shit. Also: Be sure to compare online prices to store prices. Audio is the biggest consumer ripoff I've ever seen. $230 for a pair of PC350's in-store, can easily find them online for sub-$150.
A good site to look at when looking for audio components is www.head-fi.org Generally the users are well versed in terms of knowledge of audio and audio equipment and will be able to advise you better than users such as those found here. The expectation of professionalism is much higher.
Are Sennheiser CX500's better than CX400's?
