I must be reading something wrong, this seems too good to be true.
WHEN quad core processors were first introduced in the market, the software wasn't really ready. Back then it was mostly workstation rendering software and premium video editing programs would fully utilize a quad core. Now we're finally seeing programs as diverse as PC games, Windows 7, and even Windows Live Movie Maker that are able to unlock the potential that we first saw back in November 2006. Because a quad core has become such an important part of getting the most of out of your PC we have decided to launch a special promotion that will allow us to give any customer who buys a Phenom II X4 quad core processor a FREE* upgrade to AMD's flagship Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition CPU. This way, you can enjoy the fastest computing experience AMD has to offer for the price of a basic Phenom II X4! In addition to the free upgrade to the Phenom II X4 965, we'll be giving away free shipping for your system order! This promotion is valid from December 31, 2009 to January 31, 2010, and free shipping may not be available in some remote regions. Linus Sebastian NCIX PC Advisor and "Tech Tips Guy" *One free upgrade per household and while supplies last. NCIX PC order date must be from December 31st, 2009 to January 31st, 2010. NCIX PC desktop must include a Phenom II X4 processor to qualify for the free upgrade. If you need help configuring your system or you have any other questions about this promotion, please email the PC Advisor at PC@ncix.com.
Just got this in an email. Figured I should post it here.
It'd be better if it'd applied to Athlon II X4's as well.
It says Phenom Too bad I have AM2+ board.
It says Phenom Too bad I have AM2+ board.
k my phenom is AM2+
Phenom II X4 so either the 945 or 955 alrighty then
Maybe its time to make the switch to AMD?
Maybe its time to make the switch to AMD?
hey guys, a single site has an offer/sale/etc on! it's time to make a dumb fanboy comment!
So, say I bought a 955 from newegg about 2 months ago, do I get an upgrade? :|
Just days after I order a new CPU :smithicide:
So it's only if you buy a brand new Phenom? Sucks.
Looks like you have to buy an entire PC to be eligible. Yeah, I read wrong.
A bit overdone for what is really just a sale is it not? It's just $50 (CAD) Off Phenom PC's....
It says Phenom Too bad I have AM2+ board.
Oh, so the Phenom II 965BE is AM2+ compatible after all. :rolleye: Silly me
hey guys, a single site has an offer/sale/etc on! it's time to make a dumb fanboy comment!
I don't own a single piece of AMD hardware :downs:. I was simply asking if this shows that AMD is stepping up and a switch might be in order for me personally.
I have an AMD Phenom II x4 965 It is a great piece of hardware Only thing is... I don't know if it is because of the stock cooler, or what it runs at 75 degrees at Full load with Prime95 with the multiplier times 18 [editline]08:29PM[/editline] It runs at 70 degrees full load with stock no overclock
Sounds hot. :q: Try checking if your PC can breath.
It says Phenom Too bad I have AM2+ board.
Um it would work with your board as AMD processors have both AM2 and AM3 contollers in the chip, plus there's no difference if you use a AM3 chip in a AM2+ board.
AM3 will go in a AM2+, a AM2+ will not go in a AM3 If you put a AM3 in a AM2+ you can't use DDR3.
I figured that out. I just wasn't sure. But I think Ill pass this offer.
So this offer is only elligible to people who are just now buying it? Not who already own AMD quad cores?
