A man ran up to the scene of a three-car crash, opened one of the vehicles' doors, took the female driver into a headlock and manhandled her to the ground -- but it was the woman who was eventually taken away in handcuffs, not him.
The entire incident played out in front of WTAE Channel 4 Action News cameras at the corner of Centre Avenue and Devilliers Street in Pittsburgh's Hill District late Tuesday afternoon.
Valentino Amaro told Channel 4 Action News reporter Ari Hait that he met the woman in the same area last night and let her spend the night at his home because she needed a place to stay. But when he woke up to go downtown to his job at the Omni William Penn Hotel, both she and his car were gone, along with his wallet.
So, Amaro said he went back to the area of Centre Avenue where he originally met the woman -- and after he had been standing there throughout the day, he eventually saw her drive by in his car.
"She drove right by me -- thank God the light was red -- and I ran over to the car and pulled her right out of the car," said Amaro.
He said he ran toward the car, and the woman crashed as she tried to get away, so he sprang into action and grabbed her out of the vehicle, not knowing what else to do.
"I spent $2,000 to get it repaired, so now it's going to cost me another couple thousand dollars, but at least I got it back," Amaro said. "Maybe everybody at the William Penn will see that I wasn't lying. I'm just glad it came to a happy ending."
Officers at the city's Zone 2 police station -- which is directly across the street from the crash scene -- said the woman, identified as 22-year-old Monique Harris, of Beltzhoover, was taken to jail and will be charged.
Police said Harris was also driving without a valid license.
Others involved in the crash told Hait they didn't know what to make of the scene.
Driver Ashley Hartman said she thought Amaro was trying to kill Harris.
"I turned off my car and got away," said Hartman. "I don't know what I was going to do, but I'm glad the cop was there before anything escalated."
Minibus driver Harlan Tobe was injured in the crash, but not seriously.
"I just wanted the cops to get there so I didn't have to personally get into it, you know what I mean?" said Tobe. "Another crazy day in the Hill."[/release]
I guess he got taken for a ride.
looks like he really did get his "Happy ending"
Wow, that's hilarious. Good for him getting his car back.

More like he took her home and fucked her

I guess he really got jacked off on that one.

Stop conforming to stereotypes
Look at how happy he looks.

I'd be pretty happy too if I stole a car from a hooker after SHE stole it from ME.
Good for him.
I hope the guy gets his repair money back
Yay, this was in Pittsburgh! :buddy:
On a more serious note, good for this guy. Pretty funny, but good for him.

That's one way to solve your problem I guess.

Ah, good fun.
I taking hiring prostitutes isn't illegal there?
And on the news? Is this what the world is coming to? The cameras were actually there and waiting to see a man tear a woman out of a car in a headlock.
I taking hiring prostitutes isn't illegal there?
It is, that's why he claimed to have taken her home because she needed a place to stay, rather than say he fucked her.
What a bitch.
Bet you that everyone in this thread saw, "stolen car.....Monique Harris" and thought, "oh, a black hooker."
what a stupid hooker.
Best thread title in News history.
Wait, they said it was played out in front of news cameras, is there a vid anywhere?
Irony much.
How did he get his car back? Most doors automatically lock once the car has been going past a certain speed.

Keyword: Most.

Maybe only newer cars do that? None of the cars we've ever owned did that.
More like he took her home and fucked her
Except he didn't pay her any money, and it doesn't say that she's a hooker anywhere in the article, except the OP's title.
We have a pimp in the making people. That was badass. :D
