Hi all,
I have some machine cameras, uEye UI-1410-M, and due to their age I have to use a really old version of the drivers. (v1.14, to put this in perspective the latest version is v4.2) Windows just doesn't recognise the driver for the device, so I end up with an "Unknown device".
The driver installer adds the file "uEye_usb.SYS" under "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers".
I don't know enough about drivers to know exactly how to go about this. I tried running the installer under Windows XP compatibility mode but it didn't help.
Is there anything I can do to solve this issue ? Thanks.
XP drivers do not work on Windows 7
You probably won't get it to work.
A possible solution is running XPMode: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

XP mode is for programs, not drivers.
If you want to use peripherals designed for XP, you're going to have to install XP or not use those peripherals. If the camera is USB, you might be able to make a virtual machine of XP in Virtual Box and use the cameras within the virtual machine.
Okay thanks guys. I'm going to try and get hold of the USB protocol specification (Or see if I can reverse engineer it.) and make my own driver using LibUsbDotNet. I only need a limited subset of the features of the camera so it shouldn't be that much work.

That doesn't mean it won't work.
You can map USB devices seamlessly into XP mode and then install the drivers for it.
This way you could use old scanners, printers, web cams etc.
