Every time I close my laptop (just lower the screen to hibernate it) it shuts off and when I turn it back on and log on it says something like "Setting up Desktop" then my desktop pic is back to the default, iTunes library is whipped all my desktop shortcuts are deleted... I don't know what's going on. It's really annoying to have to re-download everything just to have it deleted again a few hour later. Also, all my passwords on sites and stuff is deleted. So all settings and documents are deleted. My program files are all fine though, every program or item in the program files folder is fine. So HALP MEEE!
Assuming XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151/
This *should* solve it.
Uhm sorry forgot to say I'm on Vista...
Dose it do the same thing if you where to shut if off and turn if back on?
I dunno if it's what you're looking for, but you could try turning off the hibernation when you close the lid, like the screen and everything will still be running

I found a possible problem, I was missing an important update. I'm installing now. See if that helps.
Is the laptop pre-built or did you buy it from some one?
My friend gave it to me. But it's not even a year old. He also didn't change any parts, and the problem stasrted a few weeks after he gave it to me.
reinstall the OS fresh. That always works :D and its not like you have to back anything up ;)
