I have heard from various sources that the firebombing of Dresden, Germany during World War Two caused something like 250,000 deaths, but I have also heard that refuted, in favor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima at anywhere from 70,000 to 140,000.
So, Facepunch, which single bombing event (be it a single bomb or a three-day bombing marathon) directly caused the greatest number of deaths?
The asteroid that killed all of the dinosaurs.

Uhhh. When they threw Black Plague infected corpses over Castle Walls via Catapult
Bombing of cities rarely kill many people, you are way off target with the number of casualties on the dresden bombing run ; Approximate 22 000 people died because of the bombings.
Most people were able to escape from the city before the bombers came close enough to drop their payload.
The single most destructive bombing is the one over Hiroshima, with numbers ranging from between 90 000 to 166 000 (various sources claim different numbers) deaths. They estimate half of those numbers to be just from the initial bombing, and the rest died over the next four months because of radiation effects.
