https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=21262048 This is a gaming computer I am building, and I just wanted someone else to look over it before I order it to see if all the parts are compatible and if there are any better parts similaraly priced that I could use. EDIT: Made the list public EDIT: Odd, I thought I set it to public. I think its public now
Make the list public and repost.
Still private.
Odd. I selected it and made it public, but it must not have worked
Nope. Still private. Why does Newegg make them private by default anyway? What is someone going to do with a Wishlist?
Damnit, I've Set it to public three times now and it is still not working [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=21262048i This work?
Still private.
Just going to make a list here then http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119216 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131621 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106039 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130587 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115213 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185
You kept linking to the "mysavedwishlist" page. Which is particular to your account. Newegg should make the other links more obvious.
Oops XD I didn't see any link to the actual wishlist, can someone tell me how to get to it?
Also it takes a while for newegg to register the wishlist as public. I always keep a couple random public ones just in case. What is your budget?
Don't forget to do this: Find where you want it in your room, and lag bolt the case to studs in the wall and use lock-tight. Put a lock on the case side panel. Use a 15 character BIOS password and a 10 character windows password. Problem solved, relating to your dad.
$1600 is my budget
You could do way better than that for $1600.
What spcificaly do you think I should change? [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] And the budget is actually somewhere around $1500, because I have to take my surge protector, thermal paste and other things, along with shipping out of that budget
I don't think that mini pci express wifi card thing will work. I think mni PCI-e is a laptop thing. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Don't get A GTX 580. They're just released, they'll probably be $100 less by the end of the year. I'm not sure whether or not a MiniPCI-E card will fit into a desktop PCI-E slot but based on the size of the connector, I have a feeling that it won't. The memory, CPU, motherboard and power supply look pretty good. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] I would suggest getting a GTX 470.

I don't exactly want to get something less powerful than a 580, and I want to finish my build soon and not wait until the price drops
I believe it's important to buy a lock for the case considering the destructive nature of your father. :v: [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] GTX 580 isn't a bad idea. Drivers will improve the performance even more over time as well. Oh, and yeah, the promo code below.
I don't exactly want to get something less powerful than a 580, and I want to finish my build soon and not wait until the price drops
If you really wanted a 580, we can't stop you, you get 10% off with that promo code, so it's not the worst deal, but I would still suggest something in the flavor of SLI 470s or a single 480.
480 would be best.
I've heard the 480 has a lot of problems with nise and overheating, and besides, the 580 is not much more than the 480 and is more powerful
I've heard the 480 has a lot of problems with nise and overheating, and besides, the 580 is not much more than the 480 and is more powerful
I happen to have one myself, and I can tell you that it indeed does become quite hot, but it isn't all that loud really. If I were you, I would get a 580 instead of a 480 though.
I've heard the 480 has a lot of problems with nise and overheating, and besides, the 580 is not much more than the 480 and is more powerful
Your choice, but this says otherwise. Main problem with that chart though is that 3dmark is not a game, and the values it assigns to video cards are somewhat arbitrary, but it is a rough estimate of raw power on the behalf of graphics cards. Other problems I see are that there's no way the 580 really failed that miserably, it must be a driver issue or something like that. Regardless, the 480s do run hot, but you can tweak the fan settings to help offset that, as for noise, unless your computer is right next to an infant who spends 14 hours a day sleeping, noise shouldn't really be a problem regardless of what you do.
If this is for gaming, your build is shit.
If this is for gaming, your build is shit.
How helpful.
I would stay with the 580.
If this is for gaming, your build is shit.
How exactly is this a shitty build?
How exactly is this a shitty build?
Could be better, I could try my hand at it if you like.
