*UPDATED THE LINKS* I've basically picked out what I want, but I need to know if everything is compatible/will work together correctly. Feel free to suggest cheaper/better parts. Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131595 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103696 Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817226006&cm_re=800w_power_supply-_-17-226-006-_-Product Graphics Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102841 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130433&cm_re=GeForce_GTX_260-_-14-130-433-_-Product or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121291 RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231241 I have an old DVD drive I'll be using, along with a 360gb harddrive that I have in an older rig at the moment. That's why those aren't included. Also, my monitor is 1400x900. I'll be playing as many games as possible(Assassin's Creed 2 when it comes out, Fallout 3, Crysis, TeamFortress 2, Left 4 Dead, etc.) and my budget is $550 at the moment, but I'm working to get it to $650.
I am PRO! I will give you HELP! PROHELP! Away! (User was banned for this post ("Why reply" - compwhizii))
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.258855
Please say which one you're recommending. This will be the first computer I've ever built, so every bit of info helps.
get that combo deal it is a better mobo and takes 20buxs off
Alright, I'll take your word for it.
don't you need a DVD drive and HDD?
don't you need a DVD drive and HDD?
I have an old DVD drive I'll be using, along with a 360gb harddrive that I'm not using at the moment. That's why those aren't included. Also, my monitor is 1400x900.
ok, just checking. you have a mouse/keyboard you'll be using as well then?
Yeah. They're not great, but they'll endure until I can afford a new keyboard & mouse.
I have a question. I heard someone saying that with the AMD Phenom x3, that you can unlock the 4th core? Is that true?
I have another question. All these newer video cards are "ddr3","gddr3", and "gddr5" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102841 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130433&cm_re=GeForce_GTX_260-_-14-130-433-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121291 and they all require 2 x 6-pin Does that mean that this PSU would not support them? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817226006&cm_re=800w_power_supply-_-17-226-006-_-Product Also, with the videocards being "ddr3","gddr3", and "gddr5", does that mean that this Motherboard & Ram wouldn't work with them either? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131595 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231241 Since they're ddr2? (New to building my own computer, need to know before buying parts that aren't compatible.)
No, the Video ram doesn't usually effect the motherboard ram. And the Power Supply is fine. It has 2 six pin connecters so its enough to fuel a 4870, 4890 or a 260.
STORM, it is possible to unlock 720's, but a certain mobo chipset is required, and the unlocked cores may be unstable. it is exactly the same for a 720, just one less core needs unlocking.

Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131595 RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231241 Possible VideoCards - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102841 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130433&cm_re=GeForce_GTX_260-_-14-130-433-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121291 I need a solid answer, so that I can commit to what to buy. - Also, the Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817226006&cm_re=800w_power_supply-_-17-226-006-_-Product Says "Main Connector : 20+4Pin" "PCI-Express Connector : 1 x 6-Pin, 1 x 6+2-Pin" Does it have 2 x 6-pin? [editline]10:50AM[/editline] Any help? :(
Yes, Graphics card RAM has no relation whatsoever to actual RAM.
Yes, Graphics card RAM has no relation whatsoever to actual RAM.
Cool, but will my PSU support my graphics card? I can't seem to find where it says 2 x 6-pin :( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817226006&cm_re=800w_power_supply-_-17-226-006-_-Product (power supply)
Horrid power supply. Get this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153052 Even better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 But it's $100.
Is 500 watts enough? Also, it only has 1 x 6-pin, correct? Which wouldn't work with any of the videocards I'm considering. :/
You don't need more than 500-600w. Unless you plan to Crossfire, or SLI down the road. Go with the second one i picked.
You don't need more than 500-600w. Unless you plan to Crossfire, or SLI down the road. I have said this multiple times, and no has said anything about it? ??? :|
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016&cm_re=modxstream-_-17-341-016-_-Product modular, two PCI-Es, great brand
And modular meeeaaaans?
You can remove the wires you don't need, cutting back on the clutter in your case.
which means better airflow and cable management
Down to the last decision. Which card?? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121291 OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150436&cm_re=4870_1gb-_-14-150-436-_-Product They seem the same. Let me know what the differences are and which one is better/which one to pick.
Get the XFX one it's 10 bucks cheaper. They are the same.
