There's more going on in Disney's new "Beauty and the Beast" adaptation than meets the eye in the trailers.
In an interview with Attitude magazine, director Bill Condon spoke a little about the character of LeFou (Josh Gad) and his complicated feelings toward his best pal Gaston (Luke Evans).
"LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston," Condon said of the relationship.
"He’s confused about what he wants," Condon continued. "It’s somebody who’s just realizing that he has these feelings. And Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it. And that’s what has its payoff at the end, which I don’t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie."
Not sure how I feel about making a pre-established character being made gay in a remake, but then again who wouldn't go gay for Gaston.
I'm pretty sure we all had weird feelings about Gaston when we were younger.....right?
If they're going to make him LGBT, I feel like it would make more sense to make him bisexual since he seems to be sexually interested in Belle in the original movie, which looked like was his main motive of being the antagonist he was.

LeFou, Gaston's right hand man, is being made gay, not Gaston. He has feelings for Gaston though.
No one takes a dick like Gaston?

Fucking whoops, my bad.
musicals are all gay though
One wonders what LeFou sees in Gaston since he acts as little more than a petty thug with lots of chest hair and big biceps.

Disney's been pretty quiet about Gaston in the new live action remake, and what I've seen of him, I'm not really impressed.
I'm on board.
This movie looks pretty neat tbh I'm pretty stoked to see it.
Envy turned to lust? Sounds pretty Disney to me.

Incoming rough gay sex scene between LeFou and Gaston
Did no-one at Disney watch the end of Frozen? Or all of Frozen Fever?
Who actually gives a shit anymore?
why do you think they are doing this
Gotta pander to those who love political correctness.

why do you think they are doing this

Nobody cared about this character before, I don't see what's wrong with giving some minor character more depth.
I wish they'd stop tooting their own horn over it though. It should just be there, rather than so they can say they're being progressive and get a bunch of attention over it.
I dunno, all I read from this is that they want to attract attention of the LGBT crowd. The character won't be gay for any reason other than to be gay, and since that's not even what the movie is about to begin with, it'll feel shoe-horned in and unnecessary.
But who knows, maybe they'll do it well.

Tbh as a homosexual I feel for bi's. They get a lot of bad rep for being "PERVS" and discredited for really dumb petty reasons. I'm not quite sure its the right time for someone like Gaston to be Bi. It doesn't give quite the right impression, I guess is what I'm saying?

But its the purest form of love.

Here's one guy who does:

I don't really give a shit about this, but how about Gaston gets a happy ending though? He's a model citizen who risks his life to save people from filthy beastmen who kidnap innocents.
Really hoping for a fight scene too.

Let's be real here: Are we really trying to impress the people who only want to have sex in the missionary position through a hole in the sheet in pitch darkness? Because that's how I imagine people against gay marriage.
are they going to address the extremely unhealthy and abusive relationship going on here because lefou is constantly getting the shit beaten out of him by gaston in that movie iirc
I'll be honest, this strikes me as dumb pandering.
Remaking Beauty and the Beast, then stuffing in "diverse" b-plots seems absolutely out of place, unneeded and ice-skating-uphill stupid.
I'm not demanding or asking for a 1-1 remake. It'd be neat to see a new telling of the story. But it's a story that by it's parts is about close minded, paranoid Germanic villagers resenting someone who, on the surface, is a monster. You don't need more. Adding more, making the Bad Guy's henchman gay for the bad guy, stumbles down the new and disturbing path of Triple A writers shamelessly robbing FanFiction.net for plothooks.

If you think "people who blah blah strawman" are the only people who misrepresent, mischaracterize or look down on Bisexuals for not "choosing a side," then you've got no idea what you're talking about.

The point is, why should anyone care about what other people do in the privacy of their own homes, or who they date?

As much as it would be interesting, I could see people getting upset if Gaston got redemption.
The gay agenda strikes again

wtf does this mean? do you go around wondering if the heterosexual characters have a reason to be straight, too?
Look, I think this is great and all, but is anyone else excited for the time to come where this is just commonplace? It's always good to see more LGBT representation in our big movies but I find headlines highlighting scenes where characters are gay in movies/TV annoying, and the opportunity it gives the anti-LGBT crowd to whine about it even moreso.
Until that time comes, I kind of find stuff like this pandering-ish.

I think that more representation is how you GET it to be commonplace.
You do it enough that a character in a film being gay doesn't make national or international news.
Seriously, who cares?
