As the title states. I do a lot of model rendering and level rendering along with some video editing (and hopefully more in the future) so an i7 would be awesome for me, rather than getting the i5. obviously, the i5 build would be quite lower than the i7 build but for what i do im sure that an i7 would benefit me more than an i5. Currently i have a HD5850 and currently it's being bottle necked to hell and back with my old core 2 duo and cheap kinston ram. so i would like FP's opinion on my two builds and give me some feed back before i spend a pretty penny!

And i want to stay with Intel and Asus. I've always had great luck with these two so no deviating.
-snip-
The RAM you picked won't work with an i5. i5 Can only use two sticks.
I5 is dual channel
The mobo on the i5 is overpriced

Ah didn't know that. so an i7 would be perfect for my needs over an i5?
Yeah, if you do a lot of rendering, an i7 is for you.
Ok, well im going to stick with the i7 mobo and processor, but any one got any other suggestions for ram?

Same amount of RAM at the same speed for $20 cheaper.
If you're doing a lot of rendering then you should go with the i7 for HyperThreading. i5 doesn't support HT.
You could also get an i7 860 (it supports hyperthreading) and a socket 1156 mobo to save some money. The 860 also often outperforms the 920. You don't get triple channel memory with socket 1156, but it doesn't seem to make much difference anyway. If you choose socket 1366, get the i7 930, it's practically the same price as 920 as it's set to replace it.
