A woman who says she was raped as a 12-year-old girl by an Arkansas man who was defended by a young novice defense attorney named Hillary Clinton says the future presidential candidate smeared her to get her attacker off with a light sentence.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, the now 52-year-old woman, whose name was withheld by the publication out of concern for her privacy, said she still harbors anger toward Clinton.
“Hillary Clinton took me through Hell,” the victim said.

“I have been informed that the complainant is emotionally unstable with a tendency to seek out older men and engage in fantasizing,” Clinton, then named Hillary D. Rodham, wrote in the affidavit. “I have also been informed that she has in the past made false accusations about persons, claiming they had attacked her body. Also that she exhibits an unusual stubbornness and temper when she does not get her way.”
The victim denied Clinton’s claim she had ever accused anyone of attacking her before her rape.
What's your opinion, Facepunch?

What's your opinion, FP?
TIL lawyers are assholes
Bonus, the source is fox news smearing the name of a potential democratic presidential nominee.
Fox news, so, planet of salt.

She was doing her job. Would you like to live in a country with no public defenders?
Standard lawyer behaviour. So what?

I'm not putting out my opinion since I'll probably be heavily biased one way or another due to experiences of loved ones.
Curious why this is only comming up now? If she hasnt come out about this before...
She was doing her job. Would you like to live in a country with no public defenders?
Lying is a lawyers job? I thought it was to defend their client, not to use libel.
I'm extremely skeptical about all of this, especially with how it's Fox that's reporting this.
This isn't a problem with Hillary Clinton. It's a problem with the criminal justice system, or at least the criminal justice system as it was in 1975.
Lying is a lawyers job? I thought it was to defend their client, not to use libel.
Defending the client at all costs, yeah. There's a reason lawyers are stereotyped as ethically questionable at best.

Uhhh maybe in tiny part but laughing with somebody about how obviously guilty the rapist is that you got off on a light sentence demonstrates a truly sick person. Fox news or not if the tapes are unaltered this is huge
I'm shocked she would besmirch the good name of lawyers everywhere just to help paying client. Thanks to fox for bringing this urgent news to light, I'm glad somebody spoke out about the actions of the defense in court before it was too late. had they waited 45 years instead of 43, we may have missed the election cycle
The question that really has to be asked is 'why is she coming out with this now?'
It reeks of political motivation in here.
Fox News?
Have my salt.

It's not hard to figure out why this is coming out now. And who fucking cares. People who will care about this have already made up their minds to not vote for Hillary.
Once again, we'll have an election based on a shit Republican vs a shit Democrat who are more loyal to their party than the people they serve, with die hard citizens yelling their undying support for either side.

She didn't want to, somebody else found the evidence that Hillary allegedly lied about a rape victim to reduce a rapists sentence, Hillary commented on it, and now she wants to offer her side of it
And her side of it is that she endured a rape as a 12 year old girl only to be lied about in court by Hillary

This is the same kind of rhetoric that's used to smear rape victims all the time so even though the source being Fox mandates taking it with a load of salt I wouldn't be surprised at all

Child rape is bad.
Curious why this is only comming up now? If she hasnt come out about this before...
probably the same reason obamas birth certificate came up
Curious why this is only comming up now? If she hasnt come out about this before...
they found some tape in an archive of hillary bragging about how she knew the guy was guilty and how she totally lied about everything to discredit her. then someone kindly forwarded it to this lady

Shouldn't this be less than a grain of salt? Not more, because I mean, the more salt your taking it with the more seriously your taking it. Or so I would think at least.

You've never heard of gallows humor? If you are defending someone it's irrelevant if he's guilty or not, you have to give him the best possible defense. And if I defended someone I knew was guilty and he passed a lie detector test I'd probably say something like "So much for lie detectors" too.
It's the nature of the job, it's nothing personal to the victim.
Curious why this is only comming up now? If she hasnt come out about this before...
When someone runs for a political position, especially a high political position, expect all of those old dusty skeletons stowed in the very back of the closet to come out. Basically if you do someone wrong in a critical point in their life, expect retribution when you least expect it.
Though there's always the chance they can be part of a secret smear campaign, like what happened to Herman Cain in 2011.

i'd be more worried if she deliberately did a poor job of defending the man
the legal system can be harsh, but it often has to be in order to maintain principles of rights and fair trial.
How fitting that this is about her smearing a 12 year old rape victim then.
what's hilarious is that people on fox news are the most likely to smear a rape victim anyway.
'she was dressed like a slut, so she deserved to be raped!'

I know it's an extreme example, but I think it's fair to bring up the girl who gave a huge women's health issue speech about legitimate reasons for birth control other than explicit birth prevention, and how Rush Limbaugh went above and beyond with libelous shitflinging about how she's a slut and outright sexual harassment telling her to film porn of herself because it's 'only fair' when she's benefiting off birth control somehow funded by his tax dollars

Why did you ignore the entire point of my post and talk about something different? The point is finding it funny that a rapist got off with a light sentence is not just doing your job as a lawyer, it is legitimately sick. You can do everything within your power to defend them and not find it funny that they clearly got off too light

No it fucking isn't. That is not the "best possible defense". If the best defense you can come up with is basically "she was asking for it" then you're a terrible lawyer and a terrible person.

She got the prosecutors to let him plead to a lesser charge and he got credit for time served, it sounds like a pretty good job of defense to me, possibly the best defense he could get considering he was guilty.
She was doing her job. Would you like to live in a country with no public defenders?
Yeah, uh, where did he say that we should abolish public defenders? You're going to have to do better than that if you want to try and disguise your strawman.
