The recent spate of Xbox Live bannings - in which as many as one million users were ejected from the service - have attracted the interests of a nationwide law firm by the name of AbingtonIP.
Abington are looking to get a class action lawsuit together, believing Microsoft's actions to be both heavy-handed and suspiciously convenient giving the proximity of the bannings to the release of Modern Warfare 2.
It's all a conspiracy!!!11
Dumb. That law firm apparently is in desperate need for money.
At the end of the day we don't own the games we pay for.
Sad fact.
They say "suspiciously convenient", Microsoft knew people were going to pirate the game. Thus they scanned for pirated xboxes. It makes perfect sense.
All those xbox live subscriptions down the drain.
I don't see how microsoft is helping themselves.
Microsoft will defeat all adversaries.
You will be assimilated into the Windows collective.
Resistance is futile, your CTRL ALT DELETE functions have been disabled.

They jacked the prices up here. I was looking at getting a worthless (arcade) and it was £55, the next week after the banning I log on and what do i see? It was £85.

Going into the christmas season where people spend shittons of money on games, accessories and consoles? They picked the perfect time to do it.
The ToS is clear on this. Microsoft will win.
For years they've been teaching us to agree with every ToS they throw our way.
And now we reap the grim harvest. :geno:
nvm, keep on reading.
PS3 has free internet with no pirates games. (No banning here)
Xbox360 has payable Internet and pirated games. (Banning)
I don't know, why are you guys still playing Xbox360. PS3 ALL THE WAY!!!
You're a good example of why people flame and start consolewars.
If you break the ToS, you're going to get banned, plain and simple. Filing a lawsuit is silly.
I don't want to create a flamewar, sorry about that.

They can still play their games, they're just banned from Xbox Live.
Although in this case they didn't pay for the games

True. True.
Boo fucking hoo, a bunch of people who violated an agreement they signed got banned from Xbox live.
I hope they get banned from court for being retarded.

They don't need that help. Ever notice how much money they have?

No, they obviously did it so people will buy the MW2 Xbox 360!!!!!!
So this law firm is technically condoning/supporting copyright infringement and piracy?
This should be good.

Average Xbox360 user with Live pays month to month, so 15$ a month x 12 = 180$ a year.
Average user will buy the Arcade, which is about 300$ new.
If 1000 people are Console banned, that would be 180,000 lost,
If 1000 people go buy the system to play on live again, that would be 300,000+180,000 back.
So they make profit anyways.
Your statement, if not true and on purpose, is a good way to get money.

Smart people buy 3 month subs which equal only a little over $100 a year. Smarter people buy the 12 month which is only $50 a year.

It's pretty much the same everywhere, give or take a few quid.

Microsoft makes a well lot of money I'm sure. They probably have so much money to last them decades.
I pay £35 a year for my live. Don't know anyone that buys per month, the shops dont even sell them. Lowest you can get is 3 months and noone touches them really.
This is why you don't pirate console games, because no matter what, you will get caught.
