A sports car belonging to US hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash has been mistakenly given away by a parking attendant, New York police say. When the musician returned to pick up the vehicle after nearly two hours, the attendant said he had given it to someone else thinking he was the owner. The incident happened in a Manhattan garage on the evening of 16 July and is being treated as theft. Next time I feel bad about fucking up on the job, ill just remember this guy. Still, at least grandmaster flash is taking it well.
This sounds like something out of a sitcom. Like, an "I ended up with (celebrity)'s pimped out car! Holy shit!" And then the protag and their friends go on an epic joyride in it and ruin it, only digging them deeper into the hole they've put themselves in, fearing that the original owner is going to kill them, only to have the entire situation magically resolve at the end.
wow they sure stole it in a flash
Yeah, but don't push him because he's close to the edge. I love grandmaster flash. He was a real pioneer when it came to hip-hop music.
This is why you have lojacks
I can understand the idiot mistakenly giving the car to the wrong person, but who would take someone else's car instead of their own? Some random guy looking to drive off in someone else's car just happens to ask the ONE parking attendant stupid enough to give away the car? I don't think so. I think it was pre-arranged. The attendant keeps an eye out for a certain type of car, he calls up his partner and gives it to him. Maybe the attendant owes him money or something.
or it could just be a niceass car and the dude went with it
Or they could be similar cars, like when I owned a silver ion I was going to the wrong car all the time. When I owned a teal sunfire though, i never lost that thing in a parking lot, it was the most sore thumb in any parking lot
"oh cool. This must be one of those celebrity car swap things!"
I wouldn't be comfortable just handing my car over to some schmuck. I guess it comes with some of this "I am rich, I don't even care" things but it just feels wrong. A man's car is something more than a mere possession, it's a tool one entwines with and learns to respect. I only ever drive our two stinky middle/low class cars and it's still things I would prefer to park on my own, thank you very much.
People have different views on things.
I slept at least 14 times in my car. I can easily say it's more than possession for me.
Because of this fear, I've always just parked my own car, no matter how much of a pain in the ass it is.

What I'm curious of is how the new owner plans to keep that. What happens when you go to renew the tags and the office starts raising eyebrows with their records?
