Some Chicagoans are reacting to George Zimmerman’s acquittal with a number of pop-up protests around the city.
There were a number of peaceful protests last night following George Zimmerman’s not guilty verdict and no arrests were made according to Chicago Police.
The impromptu demonstration attracted at least a hundred people just passing by Congress and Michigan. The group started gathering around midnight, steps from the Taste of Chicago gates.
Lets hope it stays that way. I doubt it will be peaceful everywhere.

I probably fall to the left on the political spectrum and I'm not crying about this verdict.
At least it is peaceful.
It won't stay peaceful for long.
Hey, how long do you guys think these protesters will last before they forget completely about this case???
not sure how they're gonna top KONY2012
[editline]14th July 2013[/editline]
1 week tops?
I probably fall to the left on the political spectrum and I'm not crying about this verdict.
I fall to the left too and I'd probably even consider myself a liberal if asked but those tears are still delicious.
It won't stay peaceful for long.
A couple people died here in Los Angeles/Oakland California already
This is indeed a sad state of events. People would rather care about a stupid case and verdict and yet our government passes laws that will haunt us for years to come. People in my FB feed actually want to riot. Yeah, lets chimp-out. That's the best way to handle things
It won't stay peaceful for long.
Theres already been lots of racial violence. Just no huge riots.
A couple people died here in Los Angeles/Oakland California already
Do you have a source? Was it actually a result from the verdict or something unrelated?
All those people in the streets rioting because they don't know anything about the case and only think some "white" dude killed a black kid for fun and they support the kid simply because he's black. Bunch of racist morons.
Do you have a source? Was it actually a result from the verdict or something unrelated?
Can't say its related, probably unrelated. I was listening to the police scanners last night
We'll just have to wait and see what unfolds in this couple of days. I pray we remain safe
Bunch of racist morons.
Its strange that people don't see the African American community itself as racist.
Its strange that people don't see the African American community itself as racist.
"BLACK PEOPLE CAN'T BE RACIST, ONLY WHITES" I don't think all blacks are racist but I honestly see most blacks as racists.
Its strange that people don't see the African American community itself as racist.
I'd say that they're more so than most others. It depends on the area, though I'd say that the idea of black supremacy is more widespread than white supremacy in America.
Its strange that people don't see the African American community itself as racist.
The main goal is to divide the peoples.
It seems to be working so far...
I see the black community (by black community I mean the ones who march for trayvon, not all blacks) as like the KKK, the only difference is most lie about their racism, the KKK is openly racist, the KKK is more organised, civilized and the KKK have to wear certain attire.
Why do so many people give a fuck about this case at all?
Why do so many people give a fuck about this case at all?
Because they were led like cattle and told to rally to stand up for race.
one of my anarchist friends was incredibly outraged over the verdict. i told her "you know this means that another person doesn't have to be subjected to being caged like an animal, that should be at least somewhat optimistic, right?"
she just scoffed at me and said "you don't understand!" and failed to elaborate.
Because they were led like cattle and told to rally to stand up for race.
Nah, not for race.
For justice. Justice is such a clever thing, you can slap it right across everything and get support. Because justice!
The streamer is literally the worst kind of person. Last night as they were walking by fancy restaurants and the patrons were coming out to go home in their tux's and dinner dresses he'd say shit like "Theres the 1% hurr hurr they're so fucking stupid" He also believes Zimmerman is white.
Nah, not for race.
Racial justice. Just like with Micheal Vick, Micheal Jackson and OJ Simpson.
Alot of them seem make these people into Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr.
and then the other side was so busy trying to convince themselves that there was no way race or racial equality could have anything to do with this case in any sense.
not to mention that, like most issues, it split down the american right/left line for the most part. conservatives and libertarians support zimmerman, liberals and social democrats support trayvon. this political shit feels more like a damn game the more i am subjected to it.
So far I see a bunch of misplaced aggression from that stream. "I live in the projects, a lot of my friends are dead" etc. How about you all get together and get active about stopping gang violence instead of pretending white people "have a targets on the back of minorities".
-misread post-
I really want to know how these people would have the justice system work.
