Their action comes ahead of a nationwide general strike on Wednesday.
The austerity measures are being submitted in a draft bill to the Greek parliament and will be voted on by the end of the week.
They have been introduced in return for a 110bn euro (£95bn) world rescue package agreed for the country.
The measures aim to achieve fresh budget cuts of 30bn euros over three years, with the goal of cutting Greece's public deficit to less than 3% of GDP by 2014. It currently stands at 13.6%.
Union leaders say the cuts target low-income Greeks.
"There are other things the [government] can do, before taking money from a pensioner who earns 500 euros (£430) a month," Spyros Papaspyros, leader of the public servants' union ADEDY, told Greek private television.
civil servants = government workers
christ, how the mighty has fallen, not by another empire, by an economy.
I'm sensing a revolt coming soon.
Yeah, shit is going insane and tommorow it's gonna be insaner. At least we lose school (as teachers are civil servants too :v:). Here schools have a standard of 7 periods and we had 5 because a teacher went to protest and another let us out early  also some lucky fucks had 3 periods and left (but we just have to have the teachers that don't go to protests and shit )

Greek names are awesome. Spyros Papaspyros.
Those protesters say that they CAN take other measures, but they conveniently don't name any alternatives. Whilst it's true that raising prices and cutting salaries is a shit move, the least they can come up with is better options.
Call in Alexander. While he's at it, tell him to conquer Persia again.
