That card could win you the game in one turn holy shit

Nice, imaginative card - but taking control to that degree would be very "un-fun" for the other player, and Blizzard hate that.
Yeah, that's a pretty bad card...
Knowing "job applications" today, all of that shit he did will not be near enough to be accepted, even if it DOES fulfill the requirements. There are always more questions and more maybes.

Should have watched the vid. Of course it was already taken.
This seemed like someone really starry eyed but not realistic in anyway what so ever. What other skills does this guy even have? Can be program/art? What does he have over the other designers who have been their for a long time?
Why would Blizzard hire a random player as a designer who kinda just came out of nowhere? I know the SC2 main designer was a player but he was a serious old time and smart SC vet professional who proved himself to Blizzard time and time again. But David Kim also worked on video games beforehand AND was one of the best random SC players in the world(being extremely important obviously for knowing class design and balance) who also has a major in comp sci.
Also I hate to rag all over him but that card is fucking abysmal for hearthstone, already showing he doesnt understand why something like that, while interesting, is terrible and goes again hearthstone. Its gamebreaking and could easily become a 6-8 cost card with zoolock. 15 seconds of fucking over my opponent is unreal, and incredibly unfun for the opponent.
This guy just screams "ideas guy" to me.
Ye those requirements are kinda weird in how they don't include any type of gamemaking background - a good designer knows how sausage is made.
Seems a bit like they really just fished for idea guys. People with fresh eyes and tons of experience playing the game, more for providing feedback than actually designing anything.

I think a solid background in playing Hearthstone and other card games is more valuable than experience as a game dev when it comes to designing new cards.
I mean all the core mechanics are already there, I don't think they need a professional game designer.
Yep, but I bet the spot filled really fast. Just consider how many people must have legendary status in that game.
Requiring game dev background would narrow the selection, but probably not fully annihilate it.

Having experience with making games is a really strong thing. I'd go as far as saying that's what separates idea guys from game designers.

Exactly this.
The truth is, if you are hoping to get into game development as a pure designer, you're in for a rude introduction to the real world. If you don't have a firm grasp of some other aspect of game development (IE: Programming, art, etc.), you're going to flop along the wayside because you're a dime-a-dozen and no company needs you.

Apparently not, his card is shit.
The battlecry effect needs to be changed with something powerful but less than actual manipulation of the other player's cards.
Something like Void Terror that merges each card on the board into one freakish amalgamation, maybe nerf the cost to 10 as a result or people will lose their shit when it instantly gets killed by a spell or something.
[sp] Seriously, losing a 12/16 Void Terror is enough to make you flip a table. [/sp]
tl;dr
good effort from the guy but he had nothing special going for him considering a shit ton of people make legend every season
especially in the card design department, what the fuck was he thinking
