So this upcoming Sunday, at church, we are playing a song that involves 8 measures of a bass solo, and I have no clue how to make up a solo, or what would sound good, or anything.
This is the structure of the other sounds:
(In 4/4 Time)
8 Beat(s) of E7/#9
8 Beat(s) of D/E
7 Beat(s) of E7/#9
1 Beat(s) of D/E
8 Beat(s) of E7/#9
Please, if you know any way to help out, anything will help, I asked our worship leader for help, but he has yet to reply, thanks Facepunch!
Hold on, let me get my bass to test, but a simple solo in the E major scale should work.
Edit:
Ok, that does't work. Sorry, not as strong in my theory as I should be. E minor pentatonic scale would work.

Okay, are you still whipping up something?
Do you know the scale?
What's a bass solo
Solo something in the E minor pentatonic scale, I don't think he's writing anything for you.
Here's the scale:

Make sure the red dots are on E notes. For example, you could do something like this:
G----------4-7---9/12-9-----
D-------7------9--------------
A--7-5------------------------
E------------------------------
Memorize the pentatonic scale, it's extremely useful. And don't insult my shitty solo. :(
Yeah, I wasn't intending to actually right you a solo, I was just gonna help set you on the right path. Basically, take the E minor pentatonic that Cey22 so kindly showed you. Starting on E 12th fret and going up a string you get 12- 16(E str), 12 -15(A str), 12 - 15(D str), 12 - 15(G str). Which makes the incredible convenient finger pattern of 1 - 4, 1 - 3, 1 - 3, 1 -3. That's important as shit.
To solo, listen to the song, and play along within the scale. Go nuts, do whatever you want. That's what a solo is.
Although it's tasteful to "citate" the song's melody in the solo so it fits in better.
This is very true.

This. This will make you look good if you make a little reference here and there to the songs melody. Just don't copy it note for note or you will look like you just copied it.
Well.. I put something together.. it sucks but at least it won't be 8 bars of silence.. I'll reply about how it goes tomorrow!
you should record it and let us hear it for ourselves
Well, I changed my mind around the beginning of rehearsal, and took the lead part from the guitar, and made the bass soar over everything, and added some extra notes on it, sounded good,
woops, just keep scrolling.

This video single handedly gave me G.A.S for a musicman stingray.
