• Forcing something to download in a browser?

Say I have a link (outside the browser, I can only copy+paste it in the adressbar, no clicking), say a .pdf, and I want it downloaded when I copy the link in the adress bar, instead of it being open in the browser. I just gave .pdf as an example, it could be any filetype really.
depends on the browser, but in Firefox there are numerous addons you can use to auto-download any file format you specify.
Oh yeah I'm using firefox, almost forgot. [editline]01:21AM[/editline]
depends on the browser, but in Firefox there are numerous addons you can use to auto-download any file format you specify.
I was hoping there would be a built in function.
Open Options, go to the Applications tab, there is a list of what files it will open, download or whatever. You should be able to specify this on a per-download basis, ie. ticking "Always save file" option when downloading. Edit: Read http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options+window+-+Applications+panel?style_mode=inproduct for in depth info on the above.
