Relating to my news thread. Here's the link anyway. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/1054178/golden-circle-worker-sacked-for-being-too-fat
A boss can't simply fire somebody just because of how he is or looks like. But if he failed to do what he should then yes
Your question is badly formulated. Fatness shouldn't be a reason per se to sack somebody (unless it interferes with his line of work, like models or sportsmen), but sacking an obese guy for any other rational reason is perfectly fine. This kind of issue greatly affects laboural flexibility, employment and general productivity with it. Just like racial or gender discrimination, it makes harder (and more expensive) to legally and "cleanly" dispose of workers for financial/operative reasons when they're a minority or female, thus, making them less profitable to hire. Anti-Discrimination laws affect employment rates directly, negatively most of the time.
I didn't make the question. It's here: http://www.ninemsn.com.au I just added my own wording after Yes/No.
It depends. As The golden said: if they can still do the work, then no. If they can't, then they deserve to be fired just like anyone else who can't do the job.
fat people are a greater health care cost risk so ye they could have a heart attack at any time
if someones fat interfere with their job then they should be fired, and just as well I think companys should have standards for employee health and fitness thus benefiting the population
Yes, they could eat the other employees
Only if your job is to be skinny [editline]05:54PM[/editline] Or a stripper
They can hire and fire whoever they want, provided they are a private business. If the obese worker in question works for the government, then they can sue. Other than that, having a job is a privilege.
