Netanyahu is coming to speak to Congress without Obama's approval
President Obama is defending his decision not to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Washington. The prime minister was invited by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to address a joint meeting of Congress on March 3.
The White House was not told of the invitation until shortly before it was made public. Obama said meeting with Netanyahu while he's in Washington would break protocol. Netanyahu is due to make his address just two weeks before Israel's general election.
"We have a practice of not meeting with leaders right before their elections," Obama said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday. Obama said no matter how much he likes Merkel, she wouldn't have received a White House invitation either just two weeks out from a German election. Nor would she likely have asked for such a meeting, he added.
During today's press conference, Obama admitted he has "very real differences" with his Israeli counterpart over Iran. He said a relationship between the two countries should be about Israel and the U.S., not about Republicans and the Likud, Netanyahu's party.
Damn good thing the Executive Branch doesn't wield power over the Legislative, then...
The Republicans will just use this as fuel for their crusade to make the Democrats look like bad allies of Israel.
"We have a practice of not meeting with leaders right before their elections." He has a good point.
I wonder what that rat Netanyahu is up to.
AIPAC sure has dosh to throw around.
A bunch of congressmen aren't attending it and boycotting it.

And nothing of value was lost. Those same congressmen are likely Palestine sympathizers to begin with.

Which is only natural, since Netanyahu's leading an ethnic cleansing.
This whole fiasco is sickening. A Republican hack, Ron Dermer, who is the Israeli Ambassador to the US, organized this in secret with the Republican House Speaker John Boehner to accomplish seemingly two things:
1) Blow up the Iran negotiations
2) Humiliate the President
To be clear they meaning the fucking Israeli Ambassador to the US and John Boner never informed the White House, or the State Department about this until it became public knowledge. That's a pretty big fucking deal to organize a clandestine speech between the House Leader and a foreign leader to undermine US foreign policy to score political points.
The Democrats need to either publicly boycott this, or walkout - this sort of thing is disturbing and shouldn't be tolerated. And Ron Dermer should be labeled persona non grata.

Do tell, how is he "leading an ethnic cleansing?"

That's the UN, which is notoriously anti-Israel. There is no "hurr durr genocide against muslims hurr durr" going on.

My point still stands. Anyone who criticizes Israel's policies, in your small mind, is "Anti-Israel." And we criticize Israel because Israel is a terrorist, apartheid state on whom the irony of the Nazi genocide is entirely lost.
Your dismissal is invalid.
Your move.

There is no apartheid state, Muslims and Arabs living in Israel have more rights than they do in any Islamic country. Israel also tries to minimize civilian casualties when combating terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
Your example was an article by the UN (lol) about Israel trying to change the ethnic make-up of East Jerusalem. How exactly is that wrong? Arguably, they should be trying to change the ethnic make-up of the West Bank and Gaza Strip too. The sooner the populations of Gaza and the West Bank have been replaced with democratic, secular people, the better.

Holy shit I hope you're not actually serious

Then again, you seem to think anything even slightly critical of Israel is anti-semitic or at least conspiring against Israel so you'd probably believe that.

You're arguing for ethnic cleansing.
You are literally arguing for ethnic cleansing.
"There's no ethnic cleansing! All they're doing is cleansing the ethnic make-up of some of their lands, and they should cleanse lands they don't own too. That doesn't mean it's ethnic cleansing though." :suicide:
I really wish we could still buy titles for other people.

I hope you read your post well before you submitted it, you are seriously arguing for ethnic cleansing. Like, it's seriously sad.

What do you propose, given that Palestinians have proven themselves to be barbaric savages who are stuck in the 14th century? These people are too uneducated and too indoctrinated to be integrated into society. Any attempt to develop or civilize them results in them blowing up schools and hospitals.
I wouldn't propose an ethnic cleansing though, as there are some pro-Western Palestinians and they should be allowed to exist. I would instead propose cleansing the barbaric and anti-Western elements of Gaza (and possibly the West Bank), which just happens to be a large portion of the population.

Jesus Christ am I really reading this?
Replying with, "what do you propose," basically screams, "well we don't have any other ideas, until we hear them lets just fucking kill em."

Actual racism. See you around.
Also, you just called all the Palestinian people as a whole barbaric savages who are too uneducated to be reintegrated into society, and thus must be dealt with entirely, and then you literally in the next paragraph admit there are pro-Western Palestinians who you think are okay.
"I think all Palestinians must die but I'm not for ethnic cleansing."
Jesus Christ.

So, a few cherry-picked examples from unreliable sources is the best you have to offer? I really don't care if Netanyahu thinks Israel is a "Jewish state" or not and even your own article states that the rights of Arabs will still be guaranteed:
At Sunday's weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said the civil rights of minorities, including Arabs, would be guaranteed, and the move was vital at a time when.
You have yet to provide any reasons against an ethnic cleansing, aside from your emotions. Why don't you try to make a rational and logical argument? I'm all for a two-state solution, but there simply cannot be peace until Hamas and other groups recognize Israel's right to exist and cease hostilities. Settlements or no settlements, there would still be violence against Israel. Hamas doesn't care about settlements or land, they care about the destruction of Israel.

The argument is that ethnic cleansing is wrong. It was wrong when the Nazi's tried to do it, and it's wrong now. Stop arguing for ethnic cleansing, you're [del]making yourself look like[/del] a fucking monster.
This argument's over. I wouldn't piss down your throat to save you if your lungs were on fire, you racist slime.

I never said that, I said that I support the rights of moderate Palestinians.

So should we start "cleansing" other races based on their alignment or lack thereof with the west? Where is the line in your scenario here?
