I took this field in College and now just asking peoples opinion on it.
I know counting is involved. Usually of money.
I know that accounting is synonymous with incredibly boring/tedious jobs.
I know a lot of people going into accounting, so I guess if its your calling go for it, but it sure isn't for me.
My mom is an accounting professor, so she doesn't even need to do any real accounting, just know a lot about it. Pretty convenient actually, she knows all the tricks that companies and businesses use to try and get more money out of you and how to avoid them. Plus she does all our family's taxes for free so that's nice.
Accounting is a good career if it's something you're adept at. Great job security since every market needs accountants, pay is usually nice too. Or so she tells me, like as if I'll ever be an accountant.
A friend of mines mother is an accountant and she gets mad dosh apparently but I guess it's not very unique and it may get tiresome after awhile.
Accounting is painful and boring and I hated it. It's really simple and straight forward because it generally has very clear rules (the more complex stuff is a little less clear but nothing like any other job you could do, problems at that level will have a much more straight forward solution than other jobs).
I am doing economics and finance and I am told that because I am not a qualified accountant I won't be able to do audit (the first job you get as an accountant) or tax (the second job) so they put me straight to business advisory (which you only get after like two years of the other boring two things if you're an accountant). But it's a lot harder to get a job in finance or economics.
But yeah it's a great career really if you enjoy it. That's a big if.
