… where players will lead the fight for a new home in hostile territory - where WE are the aliens - opposed by a deadly indegenous race bent on stopping us.
Why don't WE fuck off if we're not welcome in somebody else's territory? All the info so far on the new setting makes it really hard to get excited for the new Mass Effect.
At least in Mass Effect 1-3 the story was about humanity and Earth finding its place in a larger galaxy and defending what it had. Here it sounds a lot like humans are the invaders.

To be fair, there was the whole war where Humanity went around activating Mass Relays and pissed the alien society off at large. It's totally in-character for humans to barge around and push their weight onto other races for their own benefits, but whereas everyone was either merely distrusting or begrudging throughout the original trilogy, it sounds like this time we're going to actually be in the middle of such a war this time.

Humans are aliens because the Reapers have fucked about in our Galaxy so of course the only hope the humanity has for survival is in a different Galaxy.

oh wow my avatar fits too much into the discussion.
I just hope it's not gonna be like the humans/council races start the attack or anything, also they did confirm that we'll interact with new alien races
I wonder if their running with the dark energy story arc that got gutted, seems like a good reason to flee the Milky Way
that quote literally makes it sound like it's about Colonial Americans murdering Native Americans

That's pretty much what it is. We're the nice invaders helping the locals get the archeosupertech stealing Khet lizard-bugs out their territory through friendly racial genocide, but it's totally okay cause we got permission to and also Ryder has a mirror match rival working for the Khet so there can be dramatic speeches about who the real evil is blahblahblah.
Anyone expecting something like Star Control II or better should perhaps rein in their expectations to usual BioWare fare.

Do you need any other reason to flee other than unstoppable force of alien machinery that comes from the dark space? That is of course if it is confirmed that the ship from Milky Way sailed during the events of ME1/2/3.
It's literally the same scenario from the first trilogy minus the reapers. Humans trying to expand and a whole lot of other races not being happy about it.
It isn't just humans on the ship, there are members of the other council species as well IIRC.

I'm willing to bet it starts out like this but then we go all Jake Sully and side with the natives.

I don't see a problem with it really. From what we've seen so far, they left before the Reapers arrived. They've taken a long time getting to another galaxy and for all they know, the survivors on the Ark (which probably aren't all humans) could be the last of their species left. They probably don't have the time or resources to get keep looking for somewhere.

But were already got blue space babes on our ship.

I don't mind the concept.
If they keep the paragon/renegade thing around it's pretty obvious you'd end up helping the locals by going paragon, at least to an extent. That's how the previous games did it as well.
And Renegade probably sets you up as some sort of Space Khan, following the same path as the Protheans by bringing Andromeda together 'neath the heel of your boot.
Space imperialism is all well and good but we still need to ask the bigger questions here
Can we make fuckus with the space raptors?

Do you really need to ask?
Hope we can choose a race this time, that would make it interresting. Kicking ass as a krogan.

I think it's already been confirmed you can only play as human, I'm afraid.
However, here's hoping they expand and improve on the multiplayer, assuming there'll be any. I enjoyed the one in Mass Effect 3, and I've been playing it a lot lately.
I hope we can give the natives space blankets with space diseases.

But for what reason?

Not happening. All the money that would have been spent for that was spent on the mako.
(You think I'm joking and I'm not)

The team working on MP is composed of me3mp vets.

Wouldn't it make more sense if they left after though? The galaxy was devastated in a war and all the species finally found how to be united at the end of ME3
Wouldn't it make more sense if they left after though? The galaxy was devastated in a war and all the species finally found how to be united at the end of ME3
A bunch of people leaving when they think the galaxy is going to burn and all sapient life is being purged makes perfect sense though.
But were already got blue space babes on our ship.
They gotta cater to the furries somehow.
I don't get what's wrong with having this premise in a bad way
It's not like a game where we actively colonize and oppress a species comes around often, why not play as a "bad" guy for once. Humans selfishly attempt to occupy territory through force for themselves without thinking of others. Spec Ops: The Line was really cool to me because there was that deep moral ambiguity, it makes for an interesting narrative. I've always wanted to play a World War 2 game where we get a German campaign.
Wouldn't it make more sense if they left after though? The galaxy was devastated in a war and all the species finally found how to be united at the end of ME3
Not exactly, because the Mass Relays were shut off and nobody could fast-travel anymore until they started to fix them. And why would they leave after the Galaxy's biggest threat has been eliminated? Perhaps for exploration purposes, yeah, but it gives a much smaller motivation to go explore another galaxy "because why not" rather than "FUCK REAPERS INCOMING WE ARE THE SAVIOURS OF OUR ENTIRE FUCKING GALAXY AAAA"
