Who else busted a thicc nut when they saw the i3-7350k? Here's the HT (Hyperthreading) Pentium http://ark.intel.com/products/97460/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G4620-3M-Cache-3_70-GHz Still waiting on that AMD Zen series since I waited a year for the 880k and it wasn't that great. [editline]11th January 2017[/editline] For those who don't know the G4620 (Pentium) is on par with the i3-6100!!!
It actually makes more sense to go with an unlocked i3 but in cpu heavy titles you'd be better off with a true quad core like the i5. But that i3 is nutty.
Go away i5 fanboy. Not all of us want to dish out 240 USD. >:^]
Go away i5 fanboy. Not all of us want to dish out 240 USD. >:^]
But 6600ks are $306 in Aus so that's $228 US just from shit exchange rates, take off island tax and you're looking at more like $180 or less. Why the fuck is Newegg charging $239.99 for that?
That's rude man. Especially since my i5 is a crippled ivy bridge.
Ivy bridge is a dead meme.
Dammit, my i5-3330 is starting to feel actually old for once.
Still not enough to make me want to move from my 2500k.
Still not enough to make me want to move from my 2500k.
The lack of chipset features alone would have me dumping a Sandy Bridge getup. If you're using a Z77 board it's a bit better but still ehh
i3-6100 here. I feel betrayed. My i3 is 2% faster than a fucking Pentium. I didn't want to do so since I just changed to an ITX mobo, but I might go to Ryzen if this thing doesn't hold up for another year or so.
The lack of chipset features alone would have me dumping a Sandy Bridge getup. If you're using a Z77 board it's a bit better but still ehh
Not even a Z77 board, I've just never had anything push it hard enough to make me go "right time to upgrade", lack of features hasn't exactly effected me so to say.
embedded version of the atoms from cherry trail were dope. low cost low power x86 systems and they were just starting to get good for cheep win 10 machines. I think they even when up in price now that their the last of the line. http://ark.intel.com/products/codename/46629/Cherry-Trail I would had flipped my shit if atom was still around and someone came out with a 8gig atom machine for under $130
Still not enough to make me want to move from my 2500k.
Dude, this unlocked i3 outperforms the 2500k GET RIGGITY REKT SOOON!
The lack of chipset features alone would have me dumping a Sandy Bridge getup. If you're using a Z77 board it's a bit better but still ehh
I'm still sticking with it until its literally dead. Still haven't hit the "breaking point" yet.

It'll be interesting as they'll be a new entry as top dog on the dual core wafers (I'm not overly optimistic). But I mean obviously clock for clock you're getting trashed at this point.
No it doesn't, not on multicore. If I bothered to throw more at its clock it'd likely beat it on single core as well.
At both stock and OC, it does outperform the stock 2500k on multicore performance. Which is still very generous.
Ohh this is exciting. I'm just about to buy a motherboard and see what my pentium g3258 can do! It's been sitting in a closet since release :'(
Ohh this is exciting. I'm just about to buy a motherboard and see what my pentium g3258 can do! It's been sitting in a closet since release :'(
There, there. g3258 still has some life in it left. They make for excellent budget servers.
I had the i3-4370 for a good while which is a similarly monstrous single clockspeed and hyperthreading. It was actually really good. I have since upgraded to an i7-4770 and the i3 really just doesn't compare, though.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the i3 7350k is their worst consumer processor. It just feels kinda pointless.
If it'd come out during Haswell or Ivy Bridge it would have been a great buy but now it's just kind of disappointing.
Honestly Intel should've started dumping more cores on their consumer line - move i3s up to 4 cores, get some hyperthreading on the i5 and drop 6 cores on the i7s or something along those lines.
Not really, as I just said, it costs as much as the best locked i5 if you include the costs of motherboards and cooling.
Yeah, now that those cores are really getting utilized properly. But back during Ivy when they weren't, a much high clocked i3 would have been a better buy in many cases than a lower clocked i5.
No noticeable competition... Yet.
They will most likely bump core counts when AMD makes their next move.
