• star wars - 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 4,5,6,1,2,3?

I found my star wars movies all on vhs while cleaning, and realized I've never actually sat down and watched all the movies in one sitting, so should I watch it in production order, or in the order of the movie timeline? I'm leaning towards production order, but I thought I'd ask anyways. And the original trilogy isn't the new remastered version with all the added CGI.
Good question, I should watch the movies. I have absolutely no knowledge of Star Wars.
Obviously the time line is 1,2,3,4,5,6. But the movis were made in order 4,5,6,1,2,3.
No way, I totally didn't say that in the OP. I'm asking what order they should be watched in
Watch it in the production order, so 4,5,6,1,2,3 4,5,6 gives you an idea on why the series is a just a big deal in the first place, and offer you an idea of the series' crucial events and characters. Then watch 1,2,3 for clarification/explanation of what occurs in the original trilogy, as well as some backstory. The prequels are full of references to the original trilogy, so it'll probably be better to see the original trilogy first. Also, the shittiness of the Ewoks help prepare you for Jar Jar.

4,5,6 the end
See them in timeline order. Will make a great marathon. I think that the new ones (Ep. 1,2,3) are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Sure JarJar is a pain in the ass, but the stories are still very entertaining to watch.
I stand by what I said. :v: Both Episode 3 and Episode 6 offer nice closure for me, so I suppose it's really down to individual choice, OP. Also, Episode 3's final duel is pretty cool, and something to look forward to to round off the marathon.
Watch them timeline wise.

4,5,6 are probably best to watch first since you get a good understanding of that story without having to watch the first three, then you can watch 1,2,3 and you pretty much understand everything before it happens. But everybody knows The Empire Strikes Back is the best of them all. 1,2 and 3 werent bad , they just werent up to the standard of 4 and 5.
production order
they're on VHS? wow, those are the ones which haven't been digitally restored. Have fun seeing Jabba the Hutt look like a sack of marbles. [editline]06:32PM[/editline] Fuuuuuu- automerge

Episode 1 being the worst, 2 and 3 were both bad but less so, and then the originals were all better, so by the time you get to the older movies it'll be a breath of fresh air from all the paper-thin characters and relentless walls of CG.
Episode 3 is the only good prequel.

Huh, they made prequels to the Star Wars trilogy?
I really liked the first 3. The last 3 kinda ruin it for me.

watch them in timeline order, go from worst to best. (well, empire was a bit better than return but still)
I've tried it back to back chronologically and it's shit. It doesn't connect, it doesn't make sense, it doesn't have a thread, you just feel like you jumped into another universe between II and III, and then again between III and IV, and then you're too tired to properly enjoy the OT. Go production. You start with the classic adventure and get the good story when you're fresh without getting shit spoiled by the PT. Then you watch the PT which is obviously thematically, musically and otherwise made to be viewed with the OT in mind, it also makes less sense but then you're tired so it doesn't matter so much and you'll enjoy the shitty effects more. And then by the end of III you really feel the magic, you're there, you've come full circle. So 4,5,6,1,2,3. No other way really, except maybe to interleave them, but that would be silly.
Watch them 1,2,3,4,5,6 so you can leave the better movies for the end.
I already outlined why that doesn't work like that. It's a 13 hour marathon, you'll be too tired.
I've always wanted to watch Star Wars in it's proper order. [editline]12:01PM[/editline] I hate what they did to episode 1. Star Wars isn't supposed to be made to amuse children.
4, 5, 6 first. This way you CAN'T observe the plothole where C3P0 and R2D2 don't tell Luke that Anakin is Darth Vader.
Production order. Thats the way its meant to be watched.
Also because the very first time, the classic "Once upon a time etc" with the chase, it really is the beginning. And the beautiful musical montage at the end of III, where it all comes together? It really is the end.
4, 5, 6 first. This way you CAN'T observe the plothole where C3P0 and R2D2 don't tell Luke that Anakin is Darth Vader.
Senator organa wipes their memory banks at the end of episode 3 How the fuck do i know this
Because he says it out loud in episode III. And it's only 3p0's memory. But then how come R2 forgot how to fly? And droid kung fu. He forgot that too.
