• Computer having serious startup/other issues

I bought a new computer about 5 months ago (custom build) and has been fine and relatively problem free since I bought it until a few weeks ago. I have no idea what provoked this going on, but now every time I start up the computer it goes through this process. 1. Startup like normal 2. Desktop loads 3. BSOD 4. Start up again 5. Start Windows Normal/Safe Mode screen 6. Select Normal (I don't know how to use Safe mode) loads up a black screen with a cursor, no icons, taskbar or any actions available. 7. Unusable without manual shutdown. Now I have been able to overcome this by learning that if you switch it off at the back when the first desktop loads, then switch it back on again, it loads like normal and life goes on, but I assume this is definitely not good for the computer's health. Also, my computer is not displaying itself as a media server to my PS3. I have checked all settings on the PS3, and it recognises the media server from my sister's Mac, but not my PC :C This started happening at the same time the crashes have, so it may be related. Cheers. Help would be greatly appreciated!
What changes, if any, have you recently made to the computer (hardware or software)?
What changes, if any, have you recently made to the computer (hardware or software)?
I installed about half a dozen games from a LAN party I went to (transfers and viruses were vigilantly moderated) about 2-3 weeks before the issues started. Apart from that I have no idea of the leading cause.
Boot into safe mode. Safe mode just loads up what is needed to run the OS and nothing more.
Hammer F8 when booting and then select last known good configuration, it might be under advanced options.
