It is very important that before you post any comments at all, no matter your "side" or what have you, that you watch both parts to their entirety, with a completely open mind.
Betsy McCaughey, the one who forged the now infamous, ridiculous claim in regards to the new US health plan, that it insists on euthanasia, was recently interviewed by Daily Show host, Jon Stewart. This is that interview.
Personally, I feel this is extremely important for anyone of appropriate age in the US, anyone who knows anything about politics. Regardless of whether or not you like/support Obama, if you're a Republican/Conservative, or Democrat/Liberal, you should watch this. She puts down her interpretation of the bill, and then Jon corrects her. From what I can see, he is not being bias at all, purely reading it as it is written. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea where she's getting any of her arguments, but just watch it. It's extremely important in regards to the health care discussion going on right now, as Jon clears it up as best as he can for everyone confused out there in the time he has.
Plus, I find him very humorous, so, there's that, too.

why is anyone even rating me anything other than informative? i'm just being the messenger holy shit
She is stupid.
Oh I can't wait to see this, I'm sure Stewart makes her look like a complete twat
After watching just a bit of the first part, I think I have the solution to this bill, and just about every bill to be created. Fire that dipshit who writes them and get someone who speaks some fucking english and can speak in lamen's terms
Stewart's one smart guy though

Seriously man, why the fuck do they have to leave everything so open? They should've just put, "We will discuss end of life issues with you if that's what you want to do." Boom problem solved.
Also the McCaughey lady is a giant dipshit. She seriously has... like zero brains :downs:.
Honestly, this whole anti-health plan shit is so overblown by the media.
Jon Stewart is a great debater and comedian. She looks disrespectful when she interrupts him.
She's such a typical woman.

I love Facepunch.
I love Facepunch.
Pretending that anything else needs to be said about this woman is just delusional. She just keeps pulling stupid, unbased assumptions and lies out of her ass every time Jon reveals the previous one to be bullshit.
She isn't even trying to argue against him. She just finds some new smear-campaign slogan and tells it directly to the crowd.

Should be illegal to write bills longer than the Constitution.

You can tell the government is doing way more than what they can do when they write a bill 1000x longer than the Constitution.
That interview confused me so much because they were both saying completely different things.
I'm not biased on this bill- I've been on the fence on the whole issue, but watching this, it seems to me that she's assuming a heck of a lot, and while this didn't convince me to one side or the other, it sure as hell seemed to moot one whole half of the argument against that people tend to use.
I have one argument that destroys many of the stupid arguments against the bill.
Why would the government create a bill to kill the old people and the disabled? It's not like our government is so crooked and fucked up that they want to purposefully end people's lives to save money that the people are paying in the first place.
It's so hard watching this video; keep facepalming every statement she makes.
I was laughing out loud watching this. The Daily Show is known to Conservatives as a haven because Stewart is usually fair, he never really attacks people. However, this time it was different, I felt bad for the woman a little (just a little) because she was expecting to speak her view, and everything she said was rebutted by Stewart, followed by a huge applause. I love Jon Stewart.

Henry Waxman went on the Daily Show to describe what goes in the bill - it doesn't just introduce a public option, it's actual comprehensive healthcare reform.

Is it me or is part 2 a just the end of the actual show and Part 1 never finished the debate?

Because detailed bills are BAAAAAAD.

you do realize that virtually every major bill written in the last century has been longer than that, right?
they need to be thorough to avoid loopholes and vagueness

what u talkin abowt fox news sed this was te only bil pased sins ragen you loony librul
I totally laughed when she said America is number one in life expectancy when we remove violent crime and car accidents.
I like how Betsy tried to act smart by talking to the audience and constantly waving her hand, only to have Jon Stewart call bullshit and own her misinformed ass.
I don't get that woman.
Her arguments had almost nothing to do with what was in the bill.
I can't even watch this. John Stewart annoys me to death.

That's because you've never once carried out a well thought into argument that you substantiated with acceptable sources and well documented evidence on any subject ever, and whenever anyone speaks of people who do do such a thing or at least try to be as accurate as possible, you say they annoy you can you refuse to comment.
Maybe the reason they annoy you is because not only do they have an opinion that's different to yours, they can show why they have such an opinion and why it's the more correct stance on the matter and you can't.
Please, if you want to ever be taken seriously at the very least make your opinions factually related. Otherwise you have no place calling anyone annoying unless they're at a lower level of competence than yourself.
In other words, how is he annoying, and how are you not far worse?

You'd be surprised.
They may not end peoples lives, but may instead triage the treatment in a way to save money.
I haven't seen the bill, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was in the multi-thousand sea of pages they pump out of Congress on a daily basis.

Thorough so that not one Congressman has a full undestanding of what will exactly be passed?
How about the nice camoflage for some political graft?
These bills are inordinately long and there's no excuse.

Snuwoods, if I were you the one thing I wouldn't trust in any respect would be my intuition, because yours has proven to be the most inaccurate thing since the invention of the TV horoscope.
Thorough so that a wide variety of incredibly complex national issues can be addressed.
Look, you're talking about legalese, not length. The length is prohibiting only to the lazy. And the length is required, because as was said before the only way to cover such a comprehensive plan adequately is to write in numerous disclaimers and rectifiers so as to close as many loopholes as possible. If you want to fear that there's some evil part to it and that someone has slipped in a plan for a concentration camp, you don't have to bother. If such a thing was in there I'm sure the Republicans would have mounted it on a pedestal of burning granite long ago.
