Ok. So what i want to do is i want to image an old hard drive i have at work. i need to do this over the network, because the people are still using that computer. All i need to do is get the old hard drive imaged and the image has to be on the new computer.
Whilst it is possible, you would require administrative privilages on the internal intranet at your workplace - something I am assuming you lack.

gparted.sourceforge.net
Clone hard drive
when it's done expand the partition to take up the whole drive (assuming drive 2 is bigger)

you can make a bootdisk for that: DOWNLOAD
I read the title of this thread as "Help with imagining a hard drive." Rate me books.

GParted can clone a hard drive, but I find that CloneZilla is more suited for this purpose.
