"One of the great strengths of the United States," the President said, "is ... we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values." John McCain caught flak for saying in 2007 that the Constitution established the U.S. as a Christian nation. During the 2008 election, the Arizona senator watered the phrase down somewhat by calling the U.S. a "Judeo-Christian valued nation."
:smith:
Conservatives give me brain cancer. [editline]08:36PM[/editline] They're just so dumb. They don't understand ANYTHING, I can't take it anymore, tolerance towards these idiots is impossible. :suicide:
Doesn't separation of church and state specifically mean that we are secular?
wow, this is why I don't like Conservatives.
boohoo obama states the truth for once most of us follow the rules that were written in the bible; we don't have to be christians to know and respect what's in the book, though, because it's a good ruleset

Not so much the bible, however "bible" laws are still in place. Which in most cases, work well for countries that were founded on Christian beliefs. And I love how the conservatives just flip a shit because they think everybody and their grandmother should be a good Christian.
luv u Obama
He didn't specifically say we're secular... :downs:
Obama sits down. Conservatives outraged by how he treats chairs.
So, conservatives constantly bleat about the Constitution, but get all pissed off when the President doesn't support them shitting on the Constitution by trying to establish the US as a Christian-only nation? Conservatives are fucking stupid, they prove it every single day.

I'm so fucking glad I live in Canada.
I'm so fucking glad I live in Canada.
what a dumb, irrelevant comment.
what a dumb, irrelevant comment.
Why would you respond to a comment that you consider dumb and irrelevant?
Why would you respond to a comment that you consider dumb and irrelevant? I'm sorry, but you're fucking retarded.
Its irrelevant because regardless how your country may be up on top, you're still Americas bitch with cops on horses.
They are about 200 years late... The Treaty of Tripoli anyone?
Americans needed something to differentiate their brand of secularism from the soviet atheism. I think the roots of this mindset, or at least the hellbent desire to prove the US as a Christian nation, has its roots from that. I believe recently the ever so graceful Palin referred to the US as a Christian nation. Of course her audience at it all up.
Its irrelevant because regardless how your country may be up on top, you're still Americas bitch with cops on horses.
Our cops don't ride horses, and we're England's bitch. Furthermore, I never implied my country was on top. and even if anything you said there was true, it is not proof that my comment was irrelevant

Obama's not only a Muslim, but also ATHEIST.
Obama's not only a Muslim, but also ATHEIST.
Conservatives have thrown every other label in the book at him, they're just hoping this'll stick so they have a slightly more commonly accepted reason to hate him than the current racism.
Conservatives have thrown every other label in the book at him, they're just hoping this'll stick so they have a slightly more commonly accepted reason to hate him than the current racism.
That is so true. I've even seen conservatives call him a "socialist fascist"
Obama's not only a Muslim, but also ATHEIST.
That damn commie bastard!
Conservatives have thrown every other label in the book at him, they're just hoping this'll stick so they have a slightly more commonly accepted reason to hate him than the current racism.
True enough. I don't know why stuff like this is even news anymore, given how often it happens. Oh well, haters gonna hate.
conservatives know a lot economically
Ahhahaha, haha, ha. The Invisible hand, reaganomics, 'trickle-down economics.' Are you sure about that statement?
Our cops don't ride horses, and we're England's bitch.
And guess whos PM loves our Presidents monster dong? and thats a shame, thought canada still had class to ride around on ponies. Well enjoy your american squad cars.
Religion doesn't need to be eliminated from the Earth, but it does need to be eliminated from politics and government.
It's still dumb, coping mechanism or not.
I wasn't justifying it. I was just saying there's a long history of this.
Conservatives have thrown every other label in the book at him
