• (O)bama Fails to Steer New Energy Policy to Passage, Some Democrats Complain
Senate Democrats, who are considering several versions of energy legislation, were looking to President Obama to give some clear direction Tuesday night in his speech from the Oval Office, but some complained to their allies Wednesday that they didn’t get it. "I think the White House message to the Senate last night was ‘you're on your own, you guys sort this out,'" said Bill Gaston, a former domestic policy adviser for President Clinton. Galston says there are only six weeks of legislative sessions before the fall election, and with competing issues, including confirmation hearings for a new Supreme Court justice, the Senate is desperate for strong leadership. But some Democrats complain that the President Obama only muddied the waters by giving a nod to several different approaches. To some, this poses a setback for passing a bill this year. Passage “may have been torpedoed altogether, by the president's refusal to come down firmly on one side or the other last night,” Galston said. “The White House is trying to keep its options open, and in so doing I think in this instance is sowing confusion." Obama campaigned on and made an early push for what is called "cap and trade,” which puts a cap on the total amount of carbon emissions and charges a tax for anything over that. On Tuesday, Obama pointed to a House bill that would do just that: “Last year, the House of Representatives acted on these principles by passing a strong and comprehensive energy and climate bill,” Obama said Tuesday in his first Oval Office address to the nation. The Waxman-Markey bill squeaked through the House a year ago, but senators of both parties say it has no chance of getting through the Senate. “Of course that's the cap-and-trade bill which passed the House, which can't pass the Senate,” Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said. And many Democrats agree; the bill has no chance in the Senate. Sen. Joe Lieberman is co-sponsoring a different bill with Sen. John Kerry, which he says is more moderate than the House bill. “It has broader business community support and broader environmental community support. And, that's why we think it has better chance of passage overall,” Lieberman said Wednesday in a press conference.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/06/16/obama-fails-energry-legislation-future-address/
What's with the "(O)"?
What's with the "(O)"?
Goatse?
You wouldn't want it passed anyway so why do you care?
Goatse?
Wouldn't that be something like "EO3"? With the "E" and "3" being the hands?
This is good. The bill would have curbed development for nuclear plants.
You wouldn't want it passed anyway so why do you care?
Because Obama is involved. I mean (O)bama.
Lets get nuclear in this joint, forget about wind and solar.
What's with the "(O)"?
Fox Misspelled Obama's name.
Why would you go to Fox News for anything politically related?
Lets get nuclear in this joint, forget about wind and solar.
Wind and solar can still heavily contribute to renewable energy.
Why would you go to Fox News for anything politically related?
Ask Glaber himself. He's a self-professed fan of Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Breitbart, et al.
Why would you go to Fox News for anything politically related?
Just as biased as CNN and MSNBC, except to the right. No need for a flame war, anyone.
Wouldn't that be something like "EO3"? With the "E" and "3" being the hands?
Can't forget the ring on the left hand. [editline]10:02PM[/editline]
Just as biased as CNN and MSNBC, except to the right. No need for a flame war, anyone.
Naw, it's way more biased than CNN and MSNBC.
Just as biased as CNN and MSNBC, except to the right. No need for a flame war, anyone.
That's complete and utter bullshit.
Naw, it's way more biased than CNN and MSNBC.
Yeah, it's that way because of your views, it's a polar opposite for me, except going through empirical data, they both write biased stories in equal amounts.
This is bad. It halts our independence from natural resources.
Yeah, it's that way because of your views, it's a polar opposite for me, except going through empirical data, they both write biased stories in equal amounts.
if you're talking abut morning joe I'll agree with you
Just as biased as CNN and MSNBC
lol Fox is far more biased than CNN/MSNBC [editline]10:13PM[/editline]
Yeah, it's that way because of your views
no, it isn't
they both write biased stories in equal amounts.
lol source?
Cap and trade is stupid [editline]07:14PM[/editline]
Fox is far more biased than CNN/MSNBC
No it's not, it's the same. CNN/MSNBC are liberal while Fox is conservative.
I was wondering when Glaber would post Fox news "news" again.
source?
http://www.cmpa.com/monitor.htm
Wind and solar can still heavily contribute to renewable energy.
Yes but 99.9% of wind turbines come from overseas. I get the damn things moving on trucks through town every other month or so. I have no problem with farmers or other rich folk popping the things up on their crops and fields to sell power back to the grid for an extra buck, but Nuclear is hands down the best choice for a new energy source.
Yeah, it's that way because of your views, it's a polar opposite for me, except going through empirical data, they both write biased stories in equal amounts.
that isn't how bias works you fool
http://www.cmpa.com/monitor.htm
where does it say that CNN/MSNBC had just as much bias as Fox [editline]10:25PM[/editline]
No it's not, it's the same.
nope, it isn't broheim
Naw, it's way more biased than CNN and MSNBC.
Bahahahaha you're not serious are you?
How about we all not get our news from one source and shut the fuck up?
Yes but 99.9% of wind turbines come from overseas. I get the damn things moving on trucks through town every other month or so. I have no problem with farmers or other rich folk popping the things up on their crops and fields to sell power back to the grid for an extra buck, but Nuclear is hands down the best choice for a new energy source.
So what if the actual turbines are from overseas? At least it'll help the energy bills.
Bahahahaha you're not serious are you?
Fox is far more biased than MSNBC
So what if the actual turbines are from overseas? At least it'll help the energy bills.
A company should start building them here. Then that would cut the cost of shipping. One blade on those things takes an extra long flatbed truck with an OVERSIZE LOAD banner, shipping a few dozen of them can't be cheap.
