A small plane carrying two people crashed into the parking lot of a bank Wednesday near Chicago, killing one and severely burning the other, police said.
The crash occurred about 5:15 p.m. (6:15 p.m. ET) at a branch of Chase Bank near Clow International Airport in Bolingbrook, southwest of Chicago, NBC Chicago reported. Bolingbrook police said the passenger, a woman, was killed.
A hospital spokeswoman told NBC News that a male patient, believed to be the pilot, was transferred by helicopter from Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital to Loyola Medical Center in Chicago with critical burns.
holy shit
Somebody should invent a fuel that doesn't burn, jesus
Somebody should invent a fuel that doesn't burn, jesus
kinda need to develop a whole new engine for that though if the fuel doesn't burn

Diesel?
Though it's shitty for aviation use.
Jesus. What a way to go.
I'd rather die than live with critical burns, poor people man...
Isn't there a video of the pilot running out of the wreckage completely on fire?
Somebody should invent a fuel that doesn't burn, jesus
They call it a COMBUSTION engine for a reason.
Having your passenger die in a crash must be the worst thing for a pilot.
God damn it, Trevor.

This was all a ploy to get attention, so the heisters could dig underground and steal all the money.

The problem is finding a balance.
Fuel used to burn a lot quicker and thoroughly, but the residue and products that were produced (namely, Lead) were found to be harmful to people on the ground and the atmosphere in general. So Aviation has been working pretty hard over the last couple decades to produce new fuels, or at least refining the current to remove all the harmfuls. There is a push for a new fuel source, considering jetfuel/avgas is fairly difficult to make (In regards to fuels) and expensive.
However, nothing has matched the output and service like existing Avgas and Jetfuel have provided.
"A fuel that doesn't burn" is quite an oxymoron.
However there is talk about all-electric aircraft that use Electricity to start the engines, and then the air moving through the engine to continue flight. But then the problem comes into mid-air restarts and longevity. Neither of which work well with all-electric engines.
The pilot should have known his emergency procedures (if they weren't somehow incapacitated) and landed in a field. Not a parkinglot. Doesn't anyone remember their Airmen training anymore?! Too many stupid Private Pilots. =/
Some people will do anything to get a good parking spot.
I think it's pretty obvious that "fuel that doesn't burn" is a joke.

Durrrrrrr... whats a combustion engine?

Entirely possible there was a catastrophic failure at low altitude over an otherwise dense area. The fact he crashed in the parking lot would suggest he was trying to use that type of open, flat space to land.
We don't know all of the details, and I can't be assed to find a map of the area. It's just not so simple as "idiot pilot crashes plane into parked cars because too dumb to find soft grass."
Looks like they put the plane into a steep bank.

The article says he "took a left turn, stalled, and crashed from low altitude"
And the passenger was his wife...

my car runs on xenon gas

man that's sad

This is a pretty difficult choice actully, I think the only ones who knows the right answer are those who fell for a such horrible event.
This was all a ploy to get attention, so the heisters could dig underground and steal all the money.
time to call the divorced alcoholic cop
This literally happened 10 minutes from my dad's house, and my stepmom was at the bank around the corner and got ice cream from a popular place right near it. Crazy shit.

Apparently he was trying to land but ran out of runway, so on his go around he put himself into a takeoff stall. But as it goes with aircraft, theres a million and one things that could have gone wrong, and considering he was on a go around he was incredibly low so he probably couldn't react fast enough or figure out what was wrong before the aircraft hit the ground.
This is right by my house, scary shit.
Yet again Bain hired a shitty escape driver.
That is so sad.
