Alright, I want to know how to use Vocodex to get a really nice growl for Dubstep. If someone could show me how, that would be awesome. The only thing I have is Harmor, which is nice and all but I saw some people using only their voices, EQ, and Vocodex to get these really clean growls for their songs.
You shouldn't be relying on a vocoder to make a growl for you, it's all about frequency modulation (FM) synths, like FM8 (hence 'FM'), Sytrus (fucking incredible for growls), and many others.
You shouldn't be relying on a vocoder to make a growl for you,
It's synthesis, there's not right or wrong way to do it. You can do crazy shit with vocoders. Hell, most of the time I use them I don't even route any vocals in to them at all.
Actually, I do use Sytrus for FM Synths. It's incredibly underrated in my opinion. I wanted to use Vocodex to expand, I never rely on anything when making music. To me it's about finding new ways to create things. Vocodex expands on growls, but using Sytrus and Vocodex together gives you really goddamn interesting results. Like, really cool stuff.
