Parakeet with malformed legs is trained to use them correctly(heart-wrenching)

This and Saving Private Ryan are the only pieces of media to ever bring tears to my eyes.

It has a great owner. It's nice to see that the owner took the time to teach it that -- I felt really bad for it at the beginning.
Wow, talk about devotion from a pet owner. That's impressive.
aww I love it when animals are treated right
That gave me inspiration to live for the rest of the week.
Wow. That is so nice, I love birds they are one of my favorites. And this reminded me of my little baby love bird :) I have had her since the second she hatched to now about 10 years later. She grew up so fast :crying:

I had a parakeet when I was younger.
My dad found him hopping around outside his office building, weak and with a large gash on his leg. He trapped him in a box and brought him to the vet. He was healthy for three years. Then... he got cancer. He had to be put to sleep. I was under a heavy flu at the time, so I kinda didn't realize he was dead, but once my head cleared up, I cried for a week.

Aw :( I have saved one bird it was in my garage and the mother threw it out of the nest and it had a broken wing and it seemed like he loved me but one day he just flew away I was so happy :D
At least he got better.
I still miss my parakeet. Every October 13th.
Too bad it wasn't as smart as me or I would have felt some emotion.
You can't reason with birds.
Way to show your empathy.
Heart-warming to see this.
Awww, it's so cute. :3:
Its too bad I can't touch my cockatiel like he touches his bird. All mine does is scream at me when I get closer than 3 feet or he just sits on his perch on top of his cage and glares at me and plans my ultimate demise

Cockatiels aren't the most calm creatures, tough they can be with training (or if they're born with just such an attitude).
I d'awwwed.:buddy:
My Parakeet was awesome. He was the most social bird I have ever seen. He would at first be reluctant, then if you gave him some food he would become your best friend and never leave your side. He flew away though. The cage was accidentally left open and he flew out (coincidentally the front door was open). We found him dead a few days later in our back yard. It was funny because he flew away out of the neighborhood but he still managed to find his way back and died a few yards away from the back door.
i rated funny

My little guy would only ever eat when we ate, unless we were gone for a while. We could smear peanut butter on his little mirror, and he'd gobble it right up. I watched him for hours at a time on several occasions. i'm determined not to get another pet; it can only end in heartbreak.
I cried the first few seconds I feel so bad for it but I feel so happy for it too :3:

D'awwww <3
maybe {FP}ST is hated in the LMAO pic thread. But i respect you after this my friend <3
Thanks, man.
My dad found a baby Robin in our backyard that was almost eaten by a Hawk, called him Junior and raised him for a few months. We'd get in our pool and he'd sit there on the rim and let us bathe him. :3:
It was so cool, birds are awesome.
Its soo cute :fuckyou: made me happy.
Don't Parakeets have wings?
Wow... just wow...

No.
I had a small green conure named Jojo for a few years. My sister bought him and neglected him, eventually not caring about him anymore. So, I took it upon myself to move his cage to my room and take him out as often as I was home (which was a lot, because I didn't have any friends back then). I left the top of his cage open all the time and he would immediately come to me and stay next to me at all times.
Eventually he developed this habit of climbing into my shirt (I let him; he was really soft and he only ever grabbed my chest with his claws if he lost balance somehow). He liked to climb all the way down and go to sleep on my lap (but still in the shirt) and get really warm. If I got up to walk around, he would climb back up through the shirt and hold on to the inside of the collar, poking his head out in front of my neck and just staying there until I sat down again (he liked my shoulder too, but not nearly as much). He went with me everywhere (not outside or to school, of course) and stayed near me as much as he could. He was awesome.
Then one morning I woke up for school. My back felt extremely itchy and I noticed that Jojo's cage was open and that he was gone. I must've forgotten to close him up last night. Where was he? It suddenly hit me like a fucking ton of bricks: he was on my back. Jojo had used his first open-cage-at-night opportunity to fly over to me in bed and climb into my shirt. In my sleep I must've rolled over onto him and not felt a thing.
Makes me feel shitty to this day. RIP Jojo, I'll never find another friend like you.
