No news source yet, but on the website for the English translation of Metro 2035 at the bottom of the main page a timeline of major Metro releases features this at the end:
2017: The next Metro video game It all adds up to something. Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An era of great discoveries lies ahead…
Source: http://metro2035.com/
I read the first book and played the games. Looking forward to this.
There is a third book? Is it with Artyom again?
if the game follows the "good" ending of the 2nd game then i'm not sure how you can shovel in a 3rd game without ruining it
New stalker when? At least there's going to be something to tide us over until then
There is a third book? Is it with Artyom again?
Yep.
if the game follows the "good" ending of the 2nd game then i'm not sure how you can shovel in a 3rd game without ruining it
You really have to read 2035 to understand what's going to happen. [sp]Also the Dark Ones still have to return, plus Artyom's kid is still a thing[/sp]
Hopefully it's somewhat open world, the kshatrya dlc mission in last light was great even though you were limited to the library
Oh shit, so the stories of 2033, 2034, Last Light, 2035, and the New Game are all intertwined after all? I did not expect them to pull that.
I love the games and I've been meaning to pick up the books for some time. Color me excited as hell.
if the game follows the "good" ending of the 2nd game then i'm not sure how you can shovel in a 3rd game without ruining it
i'd imagine knowing what goes on the books might help
Hopefully it's somewhat open world, the kshatrya dlc mission in last light was great even though you were limited to the library
There was an article a while back by PC Gamer where one of the guys at 4A said they were modifying the engine to support large open worlds. I'll try and find it. edit: found it. http://www.pcgamer.com/metro-last-light-studio-4a-games-teases-a-sandbox-style-experience/
In a lengthy interview with Eurogamer , 4A Games Chief Technical Officer Oles Shishkovstov talked about "the performance differential between Xbox One and PlayStation 4," the difficulty of developing for multiple platforms, the strengths and weaknesses of different APIs and all that sort of thing. It's good stuff if you're into that sort of thing, but the really interesting bit, at least for me, came around the midway point when he was asked if he could talk about what the studio is currently working on. "For the game we are working on now, our designers have shifted to a more sand-box-style experience - less linear but still hugely story-driven," he said. "I will not go into details, but it requires some work from programmers as well."
I wonder what the surface will be like this time.
I wonder what the surface will be like this time.
To quote the sample chapter:
The opposite had happened: having shed its crust of ice, the earth began breathing and steaming and the background radiation level skyrocketed. The mutants clung on to life for a while with their massive claws, but those who didn’t make a run for it, turned up their toes. While man held on here underground, living in the Metro stations, without the slightest intention of dying. Man didn’t need that much. Man could teach any rat a thing or two.
Lush irradiated hellhole it is.
for those who haven't played this game, immediately pick up Metro Redux. It's a compilation of both games with the original game ported to Last Light's engine with various improvements. And it's only $15 by third party sellers on amazon currently.
More Metro is always good, I've watched a stream of the game and it's second title has always been a benchmark title. I hope the third title is as good as the others.

I am hype. The experiences of playing and experiencing Metro for the first time was great, Last Light somehow felt better the first time around and even still I play it again just to experience the set pieces.

I played Metro 2033 then read the book and felt everything I felt in the game, but for a second time that felt like the first time.
One thing I didn't know was that there were translations of the novel in English. Interesting. I guess it just not available on Amazon.co.uk.

[editline]e[/editline] I stand corrected, 2033 and 2034 have English versions officially. That is true as well. Some people prefer a physical copy still, so I'll leave those links.
I fucking loved the Metro games, really stoked for this one. I think Last Light was my favorite. [sp]Hopefully we get more strip club ta-ta's too![/sp] :smug:
Probably a good idea to mention that Dmitry Glukhosky provided the entire first book as a free .pdf file a while back so everyone could read it.
Was this a promotional campaign or is it still available? I kind of want to have a read before considering buying the novels.
Was this a promotional campaign or is it still available? I kind of want to have a read before considering buying the novels.
Still available, I think it's on the Metro 2033 subreddit's sidebar.
if the game follows the "good" ending of the 2nd game then i'm not sure how you can shovel in a 3rd game without ruining it
If [sp]Artyom's kid[/sp] is the protagonist of the third game, I imagine the game would be called something like "Metro [sp]2053[/sp]". Assuming the stations haven't killed each other off by then.

Assuming the stations haven't killed each other off by then.
I hope we find out more about the Emerald City. It's an urban legend in the Metro world and probably not true, but it's an awesome plot twist especially if what I know of Metro 2035 is correct. It'd also help make up for the Institute being boring as fuck in Fallout 4.
I would imagine the Nazis or Reds to have a majority of the stations by that point with maybe two or three left independent.
[sp]Reds are dedz. The Nazis can't stand up to Hansa, they have nowhere near enough men or economic power.[/sp]
Still available, I think it's on the Metro 2033 subreddit's sidebar.
Thank you, very much. What a nice gesture of the author to let people get to read the first novel for free.
