Investigation/Research/Debate aka I need help proving someone WRONG.

One of my friends is a stubborn guy. We argue over the dumbest things. Here's the thing:
Some of you might be familiar about an old cartoon called Calimero. It's about this black chick with an eggshell on his head. Now the thing is, Calimero is created by two Italian guys named Toni and Nino Pagot. Later on, several animated series were made by Toei animation, a japanese company. This would make Calimero an italian/japanese series, right. Well, although every website I check recite this basic information, my friend thinks otherwise. He claims Calimero is a dutch series. No matter what website I quote, he stands by this claim. So we made a bet.

By sunday, we will look for a neutral third person. If one of us manages to convince that person of his claim, he wins the argument. The loser has to go to school with boxers on our head. (It's childish, I know, but we made an unbreakable vow, so it's too late to back down.) So I thought, why don't I share the fun. Post whatever might help me convince this random person about the truth. And not just websites. I want to know if I can contact somebody about this? Does anyone know any books about this subject?
The funny thing is, he claimed to have found convincing evidence to back his claim. The dude is a fan of Ace Attorney and Umineko. I can only assume he wants to bullshit his way to victory and I plan to face him head-on.
TL;DR Help me prove Calimero is an italian/japanese series.

The animation version is Japanese produced. However, the original shorts were formerly aired in Italy. So overall it could be considered Italian/Japanese, but from what I've read none of the episodes were a joint Italy/Japan production and were created independently across the span of several years.
