• What will you do when the oil runs out?

It might be a bit early (by like 20-30 years), but it's a discuss-worthy subject. We all know the oil will run out sooner or later, and there's nothing we can do to make it stop running out. We can lower the use of it, making it last longer, but it will (inevitably) run out sooner or later in our lifetime. So what will you do? Do you think it'll make a large impact? Or will we adjust? Personally, I don't really think it'll do that much of a difference. Fuel-wise, we'll just have to switch to something else, like wind power, water power... nuclear? The biggest issue would be products that use oil. :classic_fillmore: (User was banned for this post ("Fast threads" - Benji))
I think I'll be dead by the time it runs out, so eh. :downs:
I'd use the subway/train/bike.
Use hemp oil.
What will you do when the Global Food Crisis hits as a result of the Oil Crisis.
Probably be dead.
Longboard
It's actually more like 50-70 years. Half the earths oil hasn't even been discovered yet.
I don't think it'll affect us that much. We will adjust like we always do.
I'd probably use some kind of alternate source of power
By the way things have been progressing now, we'll probably have an alternate fuel source by then.
Invent a steampunk style car.
Yeah, we will probably have alternate fuel sources before we run out.
Voyage to Titan, set up the first off-world 'oil' rigs. Make gazillions of money.
Hopefully technology will advance fast enough to ensure it doesn't totally destabilise society, but it would at least shake our dependence on corporations in favour of state funded technological advancement that actually gives a shit about people, as opposed to money. But who knows.
die
I have this, no problem for me
We will have electricity ran cars and come up with an alternate source of fuel. We have a lot of oil left though.
Probably steal more from Iraq
I might be dead by the time oil runs out seeing as the word oil you just used is so ambigious it could be any oil in the world.
transparent
So... When the oil runs out... We invade Iraq?
Oil wont run out for a while. After that I am all for nuclear power. [editline]9th February 2011[/editline] Fallout 3 style.
I'll have my electric car and windmill by then. Give me 20 years, and i won't have to DIRECTLY use oil. except when cooking my corn tortillas, and even then, that's just plant juice. [editline]9th February 2011[/editline]
Hope you guys realize oil could also include gas which would leave us without cheap plastic
Well, gonna have to start using clay again, oh well.
So... When the oil runs out... We invade Iraq?
Too late.
Make oil out of human beings, win-win.
I'd walk. Unless I needed to be some where in a hurry. Then I'd bike.
Gonna drive with my Dodge Ram
Wasn't there another thread about a replacement to gasoline that requires no change from existing vehicles? We should use that
Fap with something else.
