That's a pretty big slice of the tower, hopefully space that'll come in handy for them bringing in new blood, maybe even making something new.
But this is Valve we're talking about, so it'll probably just be a lot more room for servers, old and new. Which is still good, since with how Steam's grown, it needs a lot of servers.
Though maybe some of that extra room will come in handy for their VR development?
Finally they will have space to use the Vive

Steam servers are hosted across the world though, I think Valve doesn't need entire rooms full of racks upon racks of servers.
Maybe then they'll have room to hire a support team :smug:

Yeah, now they can have 2 support guys that do nothing.

snip
Now they'll have twice as much space to not make HL3 in.
Why the fuck does Steve balmer rent the top floor of the tower?

ftfy
The building has a halo in google street view

Right, everything external and customer facing is hosted on a variety of cloud and distributed platforms, because anything else is retarded today. Having your own servers in your offices would be used for secure stuff like internal documentation, finances and possibly code version control. But even that can be on external servers if needed. Just keep on the ball with security in that case, pls.
They almost certainly need room after room to store the archives of complaints about the Steam client though, I'm sure of it.
they store those in the incinerator
I didn't realise they made incinerators with that high a capacity.
Valve truly are innovating in ways we can't comprehend...
they store those in the incinerator
portal 2's incinerator must have been a clone of theirs then

needed to store an extra peyote to work on the next tf2 crash
Now they'll have twice as much space to not make single player games in.
fixed that for you
Not a whole building dedicated to them? I guess nine floors isn't bad but

Good one Jarvis.
Gabe ran out of room for his knives did he?
He needs space to store his Bleach swords.

Y'know, even though we give them a lot of shit about it, and get repetitive about it with the whole HL3 asking thing and making jokes and whatnot, I don't think we should ever stop doing those jokes.
It sucks that they went after cash and stopped giving a shit about their prized jewel.
Wonder how they will utilize the extra workspace?

At least one floor dedicated to free snacks.
plenty of more room for all of that snowdog testing
Double the work space, half the productivity?
I hope Half-Life fans won't do something ridiculous like hijacking the van that transports anything HL3 related stuff to their new offices...
:shh:

Wouldn't be too far off if there was a massively rich half-life fan in some saudi arabian city, that decided to hire mercenaries to hijack whatever transport vehicle they're using to transport whatever inhouse servers they've got.
Why do they need all that space when they don't develop games anymore?
Why do they need all that space when they don't develop games anymore?

Why do they need all that space when they don't develop games anymore?
