So my friend has dropped his iPod in his hot tub twice now, his is a 3G 8GB with his name engraved on it if it matters.
Anyway, the damn thing has enough balls to turn on after surviving 2 falls into a hot tub. The first time it was unscathed, had no defects except that my friend fucked up the digitizer frame while he was taking it apart, no big deal.
The second time... Well, it's quite scratched up, the backlight has light spots, and the digitizer broke (and I gone broke the ribbon cable to put a cherry on top) but the audio doesn't work, e.g. it usually makes the charging noise when you plug it in, but it won't do that via speaker nor headphones making me believe the Cirrus Logic chip is fried.
Regardless...
What do I need to do to this iPod so my friend can sell it for even like $50? It does power on and sync fine, it just appears to have no audio and the digitizer needs to be fixed ($15 fix)
Try the rice method?

I believe thats just for getting water out of the device, if the device was already turned on with liquid still inside them then those components would've been fried.
Some one on eBay will buy it for $50. I'm sure of it.

It's been dry. I was lucky enough that my friend knew to turn it off immediately and I told him to either stick it near a heater or put it in rice.
BaconMan - should we bother fixing the digitizer, then?
Well, fix it, and tell your friend to stop fucking with it.
