Cheaper, so much less risk. They're taking a gamble at pickup a good team AND that the game is a successful esport (Which, knowing blizzard it will probably be true, or they'll throw some of the millions they're making into the scene until it's an esport)
Also having a team, even if it doesn't work out, is a good way to get to know better teams and (usually) picking up / scouting new players over the months

I mean I haven't run into anyone who's played it and disliked it yet so if they put forth the effort it could easily kick off.
A few FPS pros from games like CoD and CSGO have made the switch, it has a lot of potential for sure
