LAN party - how to set it up to work with both wired and wireless?

We're gonna have a LAN party tomorrow but are having troubles getting the "LAN" options in games to recognize each other using laptops. I heard we need to set up a wireless LAN through Windows 7, but I don't know how.
Also, my PC isn't wireless, it's wired - is there a way to get BOTH wireless computers and wired computers to recognize each other in a LAN, and have it show up in-games under the lan option? We have a wireless router, so we just need a way for all the laptops/desktops to communicate with each other on a LAN through it. Thanks.
This is our first time doing this so any help would be appreciated :)
It should by default put them on the same lan...
try resetting to factory defaults
We aren't sure if we even have windows set up properly to allow lan conenctions, and we don't know how. Our wireless adaptors are simply connecting to the internet, not to each other. Not to mention my wired one. Google searching is getting wildly differing results so I'm not sure what to look for
post a diagram of your setup
The router should automatically set everyone up in a LAN.
Well when we enter a game and select the "LAN" option, we can't see each others games. We have the homegroup sharing enabled on both of our Windows 7 computers.
on the wired and wireless routers make sure they have something like this
IP address 192.168.1.32
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
they should all follow a 192.168.1.X or 192.168.0.X format
Also what game is it?

Well to make an AD HOC lan just hook them all up to a switch, all a router does it ROUTE a LAN to a WAN.
Just make sure everyone has a network connection classified as HOME
I should say we are trying to play Majesty over LAN - is it's age a problem? I hear it uses IPX and windows 7 no longer supports such things. Is there a way to connect anyways?
I know at work we try to play Command and Conquer(or some RTS), and it requires an old network protocols like NETBIOS or IPX to LAN, which we somehow got working on windows 7/Vista. Check to see if it uses something other than TCP/IP

Yeah IPX is Novells network protocol, that flopped

It has modem connection and "serial connection" which has some weird options like COM1. We tried using that but it still couldn't recognize each other.
It's "LAN TCIP" option doesn't actually give us any options to put in an IP address to connect to - it's just a lobby.
Yeah IPX isn't enabled by default on anything over windows 2003 Server, mostly because it sucks and no one uses it. That link should help you fix it.
I have 64 bit windows, I hear the "IPX" fix doesn't work under that.
Guess we will just have to use Hamachi or something for older games.
can't you just type in the local IP adress and connect to it in game

should work
or install a VM with XP on it

It follows IPX not TCP/IP

Majesty doesn't let you type in the IP (even though it says TCP/IP)
I did a quick Google search and found this snippit:
LAN (TCP/IP) to play over a local area network that supports the TCP/IP protocol. Majesty will automatically search the LAN for games and show them to you on the Multiplayer Setup Screen.
Supposedly it's automatic.
Yeah, but it doesn't show up for anyone :\
We can't get populous to work either. We had success getting it to work with Hamachi but we couldn't actually connect to any games.
This is easy if it's starcraft or something since they are popular enough to be updated supposidly to actually work :\ At least according to someone here.
We'd need more information as to how your network is set up, if it's all through a single router it should be working immediately. If you have multiple routers, things can get messed up when there's more than one DHCP server. You could always just use Hamachi or a similar program if it's all too much for you.
Just a single router. I think the majority of the issues lie with the fact that it's all old games we are trying to LAN with.
You might need a patch for it to run on TCP/IP
I've seen some wireless routers use different network addresses for their wireless and wired switching ports; can you get any games to work using only wired connections?
If all else fails use Hamachi.

Run Hamachi at a LAN party when the game's TCP/IP support is unclear?
I don't see how that would help.
At least on my home network, the wireless network is bridged with the wired one. Then that's bridged with the WAN port.

On mine, the wireless and wired ports are on the same network. On some router I messed with at school, however, I saw them as different networks and I had trouble getting packets across them.
