• Airsoft in the UK.

I was looking to see some clarification on the legal issues within the UK. I have been skirmishing a few times but still haven't bought my own rifle. I was wondering what laws are in place as to the importing of Airsoft guns over from the states (as they are cheaper and have larger stocks) and if i can't do it readily now, what are the steps involved to buying your own rifle? p.s: I'm looking to buy the G&G sg-550.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/580220-New-to-airsoft-Want-to-know-what-gun-or-kit-to-get-Read-this-before-posting! Come on, man. It's the sticky. It says the UK Airsoft laws halfway down.
sorry. Thanks for being helpful though, Il look harder next time. I think i must have scrolled alittle to fast through the sticky. cheers again! [editline]6th November 2010[/editline] I still am a little confused toward the UKARA. I assume i need to be a member before i import anything from the states? And the rules applying to two tone aren't clearly explained. Sorry if i am being a little dim but there is a long mixed up strand of spaghetti and following it to the end is a tad confusing. Il put it a little simpler: From scratch, what process would i have to go through before i could buy a RIF from the states and have it shipped to the UK? (not including shipping fees, duty tax, i know how all that works)
I think you need to be 18 to get a UKARA licence or whatever. Mackers knows more on this kind of stuff I believe.
You need to be 18 to buy guns period. You can get ukara at any age. Without ukara 50% of the gun must be in a two tone colour.
to get UKARA i am under the assumption that you must have skirmished at least 3 times in under two months? If so how on earth do i get the forms? As i have been skirmishing pretty much every week for the last month or so.
The questions thread also touches on this subject in the OP
You first get a membership at the site you play at the most, usually you get 3 stamps or confirmations you've played, they then send it off and get you registered. After they should say you are registered and send the information over.
cheers thanks. I ask at my local about sending it off.
You have to: be over 18 skirmish AT LEAST 3 times in 2 months if you are importing an airsoft gun into the UK: ask to have it clearly labelled with your contact details and UKARA number otherwise you will either be waiting ages for it to arrive via customs or if you dont have UKARA it most likely WILL be taken off you without a refund as you are breaking the law. Thank You, Come Again.
