• I need a new graphics card, what ones best for my budget?

Well, i've been looking for a week roughly for a new graphics card, just i'm stuck on what to get.. I've considered purchasing the ATI 5830, but i'm not sure if it's really the right choice for my budget, and that's being up to £150 ($240 i think), could i get better for that price? I'd prefer to stick to ATI but if it's really necessary i'll switch to Nvidia. Oh yeah, I would like it to be able to run new games on at least high and still run well if it's possible at that price. So yeah, if any of you could put me in the right direction i'd really be grateful.
That's a pretty good choice
I would go with the 5830 or the 5770 preferably the 5830
If that's your budget I would go with a 460 1gb.
If that's your budget I would go with a 460 1gb.
What's up with you and 460s
They are great cards, in all benchmarks they beat the 5830.
Gtx 460/465
460/465 cost a tiny bit more, but I guess it's probably worth it
What's up with you and 460s
They are better than both 5770 and 5830, and can beat a 5850 if you overclock it right.
They are better than both 5770 and 5830, and can beat a 5850 if you overclock it right.
I was not familiar with nvidia's newer line of graphic cards.
What's up with you and 460s
Because they are good, and can outperform the 5770/5830

Go with 460 1GB, OP, you won't regret it.
its out of his budget.
Go with 460 1GB, OP, you won't regret it.
It's about £20 over budget if he can afford it
if it's really worth it, i'll do it. cheers for the help guys. [editline]12:08AM[/editline] recommended to get 1gb rather than 768?
There is some difference between the two cards. Benchmarks: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/07/12/nvidia-geforce-gtx-460-768mb-gpu-review/10
sorry to bring this topic up again, but the graphics card will fit in the mother board right? (old graphics card will be taken out) http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/6066/03082010017.jpg
What's your old GPU?
ATI Radeon 1950x Pro though apparently the 460 will fit
What are your specs?
ATI Radeon 1950x Pro though apparently the 460 will fit
Did that card come in an AGP version too?
What are your specs?
not too sure off by heart, i've tried speccy but it just gives me the error Unknown system error: 0x80041013 on everything but the gpu and cpu [editline]07:06PM[/editline]
Did that card come in an AGP version too?
no idea
