• Obama's golfing adiction ruins army couple's wedding
Natalie Heimel and her fiancé, Edward Mallue Jr., a pair of captains in the Army, were walking from their wedding rehearsal on Saturday at the 16th tee box at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Hawaii when they were informed they'd have to move their wedding, scheduled for the next day. President Barack Obama wanted to play through. An administration spokesman referred questions about the day to the military base, and it's not clear the White House would have been informed about the wedding in advance. After Bloomberg Politics inquired about the scheduling conflict, Obama put in a personal call to the bride. “He apologized and congratulated them,” McCarthy said, adding that it was a “wonderful talk.” “We were all there, it was perfect,” she said. “Made their day.”
source: http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2014-12-29/soldiers-relocate-wedding-to-accommodate-obamas-golf-game thanks obummer /sarcasm [editline]29th December 2014[/editline] and for some reason it wont let me add the extra D to addiction
He didn't ruin their wedding.
“He apologized and congratulated them,” McCarthy said, adding that it was a “wonderful talk.”
He apologized at least.
I'm not gonna be surprised when my local crew of conservatives on facebook post a heavily biased link regarding this story

He sounds like a really awesome person to be with. Then again, that is expected from the president I guess.
apparently anyone hosting an event there is warned of potential last minute changes in case of POTUS being in town
Aide doesn't want to tell the president he can't play golf, decides to tell the people getting married that they will have to move, the president hears about it, calls them, smooths over the misunderstanding, the couple's day is made. This isn't a story, this is a human interaction that just happened to involve the president and a nervous aide. EDIT: I went to another source to double check this. Come to find out, they did have to relocate. To another spot on the same golf course with a better view, and several guests saw Obama playing. I feel like the President calling me an congratulating my on my wedding would be way more memorable than a day of golf.
The media will exaggerate this.
Obama should also appear at their wedding reception or give them an autographed picture of himself as a consolation prize.
Wedding already took place, but guests saw him playing while they were in attendance.
They now have a pretty cool story to tell their kids (if they want to have any). :) Can't put a price on that.
an autographed picture of himself
Why did this make me laugh at the thought of a smiling Obama handing out autographs like at Comic-Con or something
“He apologized and congratulated them,” McCarthy said, adding that it was a “wonderful talk.” “We were all there, it was perfect,” she said. “Made their day.”
um seems to suggest that they actually were thrilled that obama showed up at their pre-wedding rehearsal
I'm not gonna be surprised when my local crew of conservatives on facebook post a heavily biased link regarding this story
It's already happened to me. :/ One of them is always going off about how people need to stop allowing the media to spoon-feed them bullshit and them proceeds to post links from "journalism sites" such as "conservativeinfidel.com".
For some reason, I just assumed that the White House had its own private golf course. I guess that's a little too extravagant.
Would've kicked ass if he just suddenly dropped by the wedding mid game carrying a golf club and all that just saying "oh hi".

it mostly sounds like obama was unaware of the wedding, and the people running the course decided to favor obama and cancel it for him, and then when he learned that happened he apologized.
it mostly sounds like obama was unaware of the wedding, and the people running the course decided to favor obama and cancel it for him, and then when he learned that happened he apologized.
I bet if they wrote a letter to him explaining the situation that he would've happily obliged.. It certainly seems like the course owners deliberately blew off those captains so Mr. President himself got to play golf on their property.
I'd say they wouldn't be too fussed about having POTUS casually playing golf nearby, not to forget him being their commander-in-chief (as the article says they're army captains) while you're going over your nuptials and then himself ringing you the next day to apologise to you & your wife for any shortcomings for the wedding due to his presence.
