Glad they used footage from UT99. The angular barrel design and sound/animation for it make it one of my favorite miniguns ever
Shoulda used footage from TS2. Minigun in that had such an awesome sound and was pretty fun to use aswell.
Six barrels of pure awesomeness
Uzi is next, oh boy oh boy.
While probably not that practical, miniguns can be man-portable.

(Though they are more mini than the original design.)
He should have mentioned that a lot of games have the minigun overheat, entirely missing the point of having multiple barrels.

Pretty sure that one was firing blanks. Plus he's not carrying the ammo or the power source, so there wouldn't be any way for him to move around with it.

he might be carrying it, but do you not see the gigantic stack of ammo and power sources next to him?
carrying it in a stationary position =/= portable.
I was expecting an appearance of from the Warthog with its tri-barreled turret. That's my favorite version of the minigun

or its real life counterpart, the GAU-19

the minigun is a specific type of model.
"Minigun" refers to a specific model of weapon that General Electric originally produced, but the term "minigun" has popularly come to refer to any externally powered Gatling gun of rifle caliber. The term is also used to refer to guns of similar rates of fire and configuration regardless of power source and caliber.
Did this guy shoot your dog or something
Did this guy shoot your dog or something
He did. He's fighting to get him convicted, but the judge won't do anything until they agree on the name of the murder weapon; Gatling or minigun?

Well really the only thing not allowing this is the power source. I mean the IronMan ammo backpack allows for essentially the same thing (albeit with a lower RoF and only 1 barrel).

have fun carrying all that shit around

the gun + power + enough ammo to shoot longer than 10 seconds would be way to much for the average joe
Loved the video and the bit of extra focus on the real-life background this time around, but there's two examples that I really expected to be somewhere in there: Vulcan Raven, the boss wielding the generic Minigun's big brother and an ammo drum/power supply on his back, which really fits with the "superhuman" status, and Borderlands 2's take on gatling guns, which start firing immediately as the barrel spins up, with the RPM speeding up accordingly, which was surprising and pretty damn refreshing. Neither is a real M134 but he does diverge from it with the fictional designs and some of the other gatlings.
How realistic is the spin-up on videogame miniguns, anyway? Overheating is already a silly thing to have, it's amazing that videogame devs have to compensate with so many cons just for that massive rate of fire.

not realistic at all. a real minigun fires instantly (as soon as a barrel hits the trigger at the 6 o'clock position) and doesn't need any winding up.
as for overheating, the multiple barrels is supposed to prevent overheating. overheating in games is mainly for balance purposes.
