ok so the other day i was listening to tool and known for their subliminal messages lol i decided to reverse one of there songs "hooker with a penis" so i will show you the song in Forward: and now backwards: from my understanding it backwards it seems to me he is talking about a guy he liked and found out he fucked a chick and told him to take it off his penis or something like that you be the judge on it. and a bit of tools history from wikipedia. for people who don't know much
Tool is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1990. Since their inception, the band's line-up has included drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Since 1995, Justin Chancellor has been the band's bassist, replacing their original bassist Paul D'Amour. Tool is known to have rigorous touring schedules in support of their albums, they have performed well on charts worldwide, and have sold an estimated 9.25 million records in the United States alone. Tool emerged with a heavy metal sound on their first studio album, Undertow, at a time when the genre was dominated by thrash metal; and later became a dominant act in the alternative metal movement with the release of their second effort, Ænima, in 1996. Their efforts to unify musical experimentation, visual arts, and a message of personal evolution continued with their third album, Lateralus, in 2001; and their most recent album, 10,000 Days, released in 2006, gained the band critical acclaim and success around the world. Due to Tool's incorporation of visual arts and relatively long and complex releases, the band is generally described as a style-transcending act and part of progressive rock and art rock. The relationship between the band and today's music industry is ambivalent, at times marked by censorship and the band members' insistence on privacy. Early years (1988–1992) An early band logo created by longtime collaborator Cam de Leon, this wrench is an example of "phallic hardware" in Tool's imagery. During the 1980s, each of the future members of Tool moved to Los Angeles. Both Paul D'Amour and Adam Jones wanted to enter the film industry, while Maynard James Keenan found employment remodeling pet stores after having studied visual arts in Michigan. Danny Carey performed as a drummer for Wild Blue Yonder, Green Jellÿ, and Carole King, and played in the Los Angeles area with Pigmy Love Circus. Keenan and Jones met through a common friend in 1989. After Keenan played a tape recording for Jones of his previous band project, Jones was so impressed by his voice that he eventually talked his friend into forming their own band. They started jamming together and were on the lookout for a drummer and a bass player. Danny Carey happened to live above Keenan and was introduced to Jones by Tom Morello, an old high school friend of Jones and former bandmate of Electric Sheep. Carey began playing in their sessions because he "felt kinda sorry for them", as other invited musicians were not showing up. Tool's lineup was completed when a friend of Jones introduced them to bassist D'Amour. Early on, the band fabricated the story that they formed because of the pseudophilosophy "lachrymology". Although "lachrymology" was also explained to be an inspiration for the band's name, Keenan later explained their intentions differently: "Tool is exactly what it sounds like: It's a big dick. It's a wrench.... we are... your tool; use us as a catalyst in your process of finding out whatever it is you need to find out, or whatever it is you're trying to achieve."
FUCK IF I WANT WANKERY IL LISTEN TO BRAINDRILL
I thought I liked you up until that. Do I admittedly worship Petrucci to an unholy level? Yes. But it's because I absolutely love his tone, feel, etc. Listen to a song like The Spirit Carries On, or some of his solo work like Lost Without You, or something from Liquid Tension. Petrucci is very capable of feel and melody, but most of DT's songs tend to call for shredding and sweeping more, and as such, he does that more often.
I'm genuinely afraid of this
I like Tool a lot. Been listening for years.
what i love about em is that you play them backwards you here something else with it too xD came across this randomly lol
I like tool, the singer is pretty amazing but I am by no means a fan of tool. The good songs are few and far between.
They make good music. I like the majority of their stuff. But for god's sake people. THEY ARE NOT FULL OF DEEP MEANINGFUL STUFF TO PROBE YOUR PSYCHE! The band are just pretentious and make weird stuff for the sake of making weird stuff. It's not "deep" and it doesn't have any more meaning than what it is on top mostly. Good band otherwise. FUCK IF I WANT WANKERY IL LISTEN TO BRAINDRILL
Oh look, another person who has heard one Dream Theater song and assumes they're all made up of technical solos. Listen to Hollow Years, or Forsaken, or The Spirit Carries on, or Solitary Shell. They have plenty of slow relatively simplistic songs that are almost devoid of solos.
lol true i like dream theater
I like about 5 or 6 Tool songs, can't be bothered to listen to the rest, they bore me, and it gets redundant. And that Something Awful review has many good points on Tool, but the Top 10 was shit. Boston and Kansas shouldn't be 1 and 2, come on now.

That makes you sound like you have valid points.
http://www.somethingawful.com/d/your-band-sucks/tool-worst-songs.php
That reads like an Encyclopedia Dramatica article. Credibility denied.
Yeah, let something awful speak for you. That makes you sound like you have valid points.
you speak as though every single one of the points in the article aren't completely valid in every single way
Oh yes this. They aren't very serious, and although their sometimes music sounds heavy and full of meaning it generally isn't, and I believe they know that. It's like kicking those people who have to listen to a song 5 thousand times to discern it's hidden meaning a giant kick in the balls.
Those, who listen to Tool solely for the purpose of feeling special and "smarter" are social retards. I like Tool for it's sound and lyrics - yeah, they're full of obscure riddles, but they aren't meant to be figured out. Everyone can understand their lyrics differently, no need to be a bitch about it and say "herp derp i understand the deepness of tewl, im kewl now". The thing is, the lyrics will be as meaningful and deep as you want them to be. That goes for almost every song tho. [editline]07:27PM[/editline] oh and
http://www.somethingawful.com/d/your-band-sucks/tool-worst-songs.php
This man is a complete retard. He tries to push his subjective views onto others. That's just sad.
